Chapter 21

318words
Four months after I married James, I was reunited with my siblings, whom I had not met for a long time.
They had grown taller. They looked like they were healthy and well.
They hugged me and cried as soon as they saw me.

My brother looked at me with tears and said, "Don't worry, Leah. I'll be able to protect you once I'm grown up. You won't have anything to fear anymore."
He was only 17, yet he was still trying to shelter me from harm with whatever ability he had.
My sister stroked my hair and said, "Me too, Leah. I'll protect you, too."
Walter had always used my siblings to control my life. However, James had helped them break free from Walter's control.
I no longer needed to be concerned about my siblings' situation or worried I would lose contact with them again. I also no longer needed to be concerned that Walter would give them a hard time because I did not do as I was told.
After catching up with my siblings, I brought them to meet James.

It was clear that they were a little afraid of him. They greeted him politely with their heads bowed.
James could tell they were feeling uneasy, so he excused himself, saying he had some things to take care of at the office. He left the space for my siblings and me.
James rarely stayed home in the next few days, so I brought my siblings around and bought many things.
My sister liked to do some arts and crafts, so I learned a little from her and made two porcelain dolls myself.

The male doll was in a suit, while the female wore a white dress. I placed them in the most striking place in the bedroom.
I was secretly delighted at the thought of James seeing them as soon as he entered the bedroom.
