Chapter 20

The butler conveyed my message to Brad, but he still waited outside the door stubbornly, insisting on seeing me.
Brad waited a whole night, but I still refused to give in.
Feeling helpless, he told the butler to bring the gift to me. However, I refused to accept it.

Finally, Brad left the new treasure chest at the door.
I did not even look at it. I told the butler to get rid of it.
All the jewelry was donated to a charitable foundation in Clason City. In some ways, that would be a charitable act on Brad's part.
I never heard about Brad again for two months after that.
That was until my best friend mentioned him.
Brad had been forcefully removed from Clason City by his parents. They locked him up for almost a month after they returned to the capital, and Brad was only released the previous week.

Even so, Brad was watched by someone whenever he went out. They were afraid he would sneak away and run to Clason City again.
A few days ago, Brad heard some people slandering me, and he fought them.
He also took the chance to clear up many rumors about me as well.
After I left, my reputation in the capital improved.

I felt a faint sense of sorrow when I heard about that.
It seemed like Brad had always known how much those rumors hurt me. However, he did not want to deal with it back then. He would even fan the flames when his so-called friends talked about me.
Half of the reason why my reputation was so bad was Brad's inaction.
However, that was all in the past.
At the moment, I was looking forward to tomorrow.
My siblings traveled from abroad that night to meet me in Clason City.
