Chapter 10

I returned to the bed with my phone after the call ended.
James grabbed my phone and threw it on the couch at the side.
He wrapped his hands around my waist, and I felt his warm breath on my face and neck.

He caressed my waist with his fingers lightly, making me feel ticklish. I instinctively wanted to move away, but he hugged me tighter.
"Leah, do you know it's highly unethical to answer an unimportant call when you're halfway kissing someone else?" he asked.
I had been by James' side for a few days.
He said we were about to have a wedding and become husband and wife, so we should get used to intimacy sooner.
That was why we would kiss and hug every night before we bid each other goodnight.
I had been living an extremely comfortable life ever since I went there. It was drastically different from what I had imagined.

James did not seem as violent and heartless as he was rumored to be. On the contrary, he was also extremely good to me and the people around him. We were quickly falling in love with each other.
I got in contact with my siblings, who were abroad. They were safe and sound. Their lives and studies were not affected.
James promised me that my siblings could live freely and not be controlled by Walter and my stepmother anymore as long as I married him.
I could not wait for that day to come.

Relationships were a two-way street. James had been good to me, so I had changed my mindset and sincerely treated him as my husband.
Thinking of that, I could not help but wrap my hands around his neck and kiss him quickly.
"How's this for compensation, Mr. Blackwell?" I asked.
"Just a kiss?"
I held back my bashfulness and kissed his cheek and then his chin and Adam's apple.
James' body became tense, and his Adam's apple bobbed in his throat as I kissed it.
"This is far from enough, my dear Leah," he said.
Then, he took the lead, pinching my chin and lowering his head to give me a deep kiss.
This kiss was different from all the kisses we had before.
It was deep and passionate. It was as if he wanted to devour me.
I felt his body's reaction, but I had no time to think about that at all. I was engrossed in the kiss, and my knees weakened.
I had long forgotten about those people in the capital.
All my heart and soul was on the man before my eyes.
I had no idea how long it went on before James let go of me. His voice was husky as he said, "It's getting late. You should head to bed. Good night, Leah."
I got up from his lap and straightened my messy clothes. I brushed my messy hair before I said good night to him and left.
My room was next to James'. I laid down and felt incredibly safe at the thought of my future husband being right next door.
I closed my eyes and fell asleep soon after.
Sean stood in place for a long time after the call ended.
However, he had no choice but to take a deep breath and tell Brad what I had said.
