"If something happens to me here, I'll sue you all for illegal detention. Just wait to be arrested!"
At first, I thought Madison was trying to make a run for it with the money, but as I studied her, I realized something was wrong.
Her lips were pale, and the dark circles under her eyes were even worse than before. Most unsettling of all, her neck seemed to be elongating.
At the mention of illegal detention, everyone stepped back. No one wanted to be caught up in a lawsuit for just being spectators.
Soon, all eyes were on me.
I knew I couldn't let Madison leave at that moment. If she did, she and Evan would disappear with the money.
Just as I was about to take responsibility, Alfie and Demi, who had seemed so timid up to this point, suddenly stepped forward.
"You're all still young, so it's understandable that you're afraid of a lawsuit. But now that our daughter is safe, we have nothing to fear. Miss, since you suspect them, we'll block the door and make sure they don't leave."
The elderly couple took their positions, sitting firmly in front of the door and blocking the way.
Madison, seething with rage, shouted at them, "You old fools have no right to do this! No one is stopping me today! I'm leaving!"
And with that, she lunged toward them, dragging Evan along as they began to struggle with Alfie and Demi.
At this point, no one could stand it any longer. Some helped out, others stood guard, and soon Evan and Madison were confined to their chairs.
The scene was a mess, but my eyes never left Madison for a moment.
As I stared, her neck continued to elongate at an alarming rate, visible even to the naked eye.
I stiffly tapped Willow beside me. "Ms. Pollard, there seems to be something wrong with Madison. Why do I feel like—"
Before I could finish, Madison suddenly let out a chilling scream. Her body began convulsing uncontrollably.
At the same time, her mouth stretched open in an unnaturally wide, grotesque way.
Everyone was frozen in shock, unable to comprehend what was happening. In mere moments, her long neck supported her head as it jerked violently toward me.
I screamed and ducked down, but the expected horror never came.
When I cautiously opened my eyes, I saw Alfie and Demi pressing Madison's head down with the cleaning mops from the bank entrance.
They pressed down on either side, holding the strange head firmly, but it continued to struggle and let out eerie shrieks.
I swallowed hard. My whole body went limp as I collapsed to the ground. Hesitantly, I called out Madison's name.
However, that long neck and strange head showed no reaction whatsoever.
I shifted my gaze to Evan, who was beside Madison. A wet patch had spread beneath him, and he had already fainted from the shock.
The eerie silence stretched on for what felt like an eternity before someone nervously spoke up.
"I've seen something like this in a book. If I'm not mistaken, this is a dark magic from Jordale called the Flying Head Demon. It's incredibly evil. It requires the blood of a living being to fuel it. Once perfected, it can make the head fly, crawl on walls, and kill without leaving a trace."
