Abstract

The Free States of America was formerly part of the United States, before it divided into four separate countries. Not only is the FSA fascist, with laws and attitudes reminiscent of the 19th century, but the problems that have plagued humanity for centuries still remain. Unrequited love, petty arguments, corrupt cops, and the occasional small-town drama. This slice of life dystopian revolves around the problems of six citizens. Jake's thirst for justice, Maple's fear of domesticity, Sebastian's feelings towards a man, Axel's longing for a conflict-free life, Stellaluna's regrets, and Luke's struggles as a single father. Although their personalities and desires are different, they all share one thing in common- a hatred for the FSA. Unable to overthrow the government, they rebel against conformity by loving whoever they choose, despite the risk of being outcasts.
