Now that Ethan knew I wasn't from this world,I dropped the act.
"Your mother's death was Sarah mom's fault,not Sarah's.You poured all your malice and pain onto her—did that make you feel good?"
I never understood why Ethan tormented Sarah when it was clear thagt she was innocent.
His mind went blank,he could only feel his heart pounding in his chest.
"I don't know...I know it wasn't your fault,but...I couldn't control myself..."
Ethan buried his head in his hands,eyes flickering with confusion.
Maybe all he did was to keep me by his side.
But he couldn't let go of his resentment,torn in midnight dreams.
"Sarah,forgive me.Please forgive me."
He hugged me frantically,as if I'd vanish all of a sudden.
Feeling his trembling hands,my gaze darkened."You loved the old Sarah,not me."
"No!It's you.I know my feelings."
He gripped my hand."You set off the fireworks.You comforted me in my coma,stayed by my side—it's always been you."
"But I'm not from this world.I came to complete a task to save my love."
Hearing me mentioning my love,Ethan snapped back.
"You...have someone you love?"
"He's my only love in this life."
My certainty sliced his heart like blades.
"So,your task for approaching me—what was it?"
"Your tears."
I told him everything.He fell silent,then asked,"So...you'll go back in the end,right?"
"I can't."
I smiled bitterly."I failed.I'm stuck here."
His eyes lit up with hope.
"Sarah,stay with me.Forgive me,accept me.I know I was wrong,I was blind to my heart.Let's forget it all and start over,okay?"
His pleading was tempting,but I pulled my hand free from his.
"Ethan,you shouldn't love me,and I'll never love you."
We were from different worlds.Our connection was a lie from the start.
To leave,I tried every possible suicide method—hanging,overdosing,drowning,cutting myself.
None worked.
Ethan never left my side,he would notice even one tiny move from me.
"Ethan!What do you want?I'm not from here—let me go!"
"Sarah,you can't leave.Why keep trying to die?Can't you just accept me and stay?"

I screamed,ordering him to leave.Blind,I felt like my life was in a prison he built for me.
