“Found him!”
The team emerged, carrying a stretcher covered in white cloth,a human shape beneath.
“Michael!My son!”Evelyn rushed forward,pulling the cloth off.
In the biting wind,Michael’s lifeless face came into view—eyes closed, lips a purplish hue, frost clinging to his skin, as rigid as a statue.
I“screamed,”covering my mouth, trembling, tears forced out.“Michael, how could this have happened?”
I stumbled toward him,but Evelyn shoved me away roughly.
“Get away, murderer! You killed him!”Her voice was feral, eyes bloodshot, ready to tear me apart.
“Evelyn,what?Me,a murderer?”I whimpered,wiping tears.“How?”
“You!You insisted on coming to see him, fought with me,and now he’s frozen dead!”she sobbed, clutching his body.
“You witch!”Sophia piled on.“You knew he wasn’t dead! You planned all of this!”
Their accusations were laughable.
“Enough!”I stood yp,pointing.“You told me he died saving me,so I wanted to see him!You are the one who kicked him off the ledge! If you hadn’t lied,he’d still be alive!”
“Lies! You are the one who killed him!”Evelyn roared.
“Exactly!Murderer!”Sophia echoed.
“Me?Hilarious,”I sneered.“Then why’d you fake his death in the first place?”
“I…”They froze,eyes dodging.
“I don’t care!You killed him!I’m calling the cops!”Evelyn shrieked.
“Yes,arrest her!”Sophia yelled.
“Cops?Fine,”I said coolly.“Let’s see who they arrest.”
I turned to call,but Sophia grabbed Evelyn,whispering.
Evelyn’s face fell. She dropped the idea.
“Let’s just take Michael’s body down,”Sophia muttered.
Evelyn glared at me,venomous, and they led the team away with the body.
I watched,lips curling into a cold smile.
