Chapter 64

Anastasia was beyond shocked. Who was this guy and how dare he talk about her mother like that? Did he truly know who her mother was? Did he know everything about her and where she came from? The truth was getting close and Anastasia badly wanted to chase after it.

Alpha Draco growled impatiently, charging towards the prisoner and grabbing him by the neck with a force. "Lie to me one more time and you will meet my hard fist," he warned his voice deadly and his fists clenching.

"I'm not lying, Alpha Draco, that much is true."

"I know who you are, Beta Charles," Draco hissed. "You achieved your position through your dirty ways and sweet lies. I won't take your kind lightly."

"There are a lot of things you don't know about me, Alpha Draco," he smirked, looking like he lost his care for everything and didn't worry about dying in the hands of a powerful Alpha.

With a grunt, Alpha Draco punched his face hard and the prisoner landed head first on the ground, fainting from the shock and pain. Alpha turned to look at his mate with worry. "Are you alright?"

"I.. I'm not sure," she murmured, still in shock.

"Don't let his words get to you. He wanted this to happen."

"No," Wendy said, getting everyone's attention. She was staring at Anastasia with widened eyes. "Your eyes.. You have your mother's eyes," she stated with realization.

Anastasia frowned. "How did you know?"

"Because I've met your mother once in my younger years," she realized suddenly. "I can't believe I didn't recognize it before. Your hair's a different color but you're as beautiful as she was when she's at your age."

Anastasia felt teary with this sudden revelation. "Are you telling me.. that my mother was an Alpha's lost daughter?"

Wendy nodded. "It all makes sense now. Alpha Fred wanted to marry your mother, Alexandra, off to another alpha. He wanted a powerful ally at that time but your mother ran away. She must've found your father and fell in love with him."

The truth began to sink in and Anastasia wasn't sure how to swallow everything all at once. She was the heir and a granddaughter to an Alpha, a family she hadn't known her whole life. How was this all possible?

"But my father is just a mere human.."

"One whom accepted her and didn't force her to do things she didn't like," Wendy responded. "I've always wondered what happened to miss Alexandra. She was once so young and beautiful with her pretty golden hair and long eye lashes. She was just as beautiful as you."

Hearing her say that made something inside her awaken, her heart was aching but it still felt so sudden. "Did my father know who she truly was?"

"Yes." The answer came from the corner and everyone turned to see her father coming in, his face painted with a mix of emotions. "I met your mother in a festival a long time ago. The night was chill and it was a perfect time to sell cotton candies. That's when I met your mother in ripped clothes and dirty shoes. She said she was running away from something but I thought she was being chased down by rapers. I wanted to take her back to her home but she begged me not to and asked for a job instead. I was skeptical at first but I pitied her so I gave her some money for a start.. That's when our friendship began and slowly we fell in love. Soon we married and had a family together. But the happy days were short-lived when a stranger suddenly came in the night, claiming he knew her. He wanted to take her back to her home and family but she refused and fought until the very end. I couldn't do anything.. She died in my arms. I did the best I could to hide the fact we had a child because I knew my daughter will be in danger if I exposed her to the truth.."

"Papa.." Anastasia muttered with tears falling down her cheeks. He ran to hug him and he hugged her back with blurry sights.

"I'm sorry I hid everything from you, child."

"No, Papa, don't be sorry. You have nothing to apologize for. I've spent all my life telling myself she died from cancer believing I'm living a normal life. But I was wrong.. and it's time for me to make things right. Now that I know who killed my mother.." she looked back at Beta Charles who was knocked out on the ground. "I'll make sure he pays for it."

"Don't make rushed decisions, Anastasia. Be patient."

Anastasia gave him a confused look. "I thought you of all people would support me to kill this guy. What do you want me to do? Just lock him up forever, feed and bore him for the rest of his life?"

He shook his head. "No. I don't want you to kill him and get this over and done with to satisfy your anger and revenge. Isn't that what Marcus fought for? Why he kidnapped you in the first place?"

Anastasia sighed, realizing he was right. "Then what are you suggesting we should do, Papa?"

"Take him back to the Crescent pack and bring your mother's death to justice. Destroy his reputation just as he destroyed hers. Your mother was known to be the girl who ran away and left her responsibilities behind forever. But that doesn't define her at all. She is very brave and caring. A good mother and wife. The day we lost her was my greatest sorrow. And you became my greatest love, my dear Anastasia. You are so much like her. I see a lot of her beliefs and traits in you — kind, smart, and gentle. You are destined for greater things."

Anastasia realized she heard that sentence somewhere. Her mother used to tell it to her. Looking at her father, she nodded with a newfound determination. "I'll bring her death to justice. Let's take her to the Crescent pack so we can reveal the truth about him and decide his fate. It's time to meet my mother's family."

Her father gave a proud grin. "That's my girl."
