She had been quiet till this moment. It was all Grace's fault that her brother had ended up the way he did. The general had just recovered from his illness and just when she thought he would recover, Grace had ended his life finally.
"Aunt Martha, don't be like that, Aunt Grace hadn't meant any harm." Nari came to Grace's rescue again.
"Grace has always been a foolish child. She makes stupid decisions without thinking. You don't have an idea what you're talking about. She killed my brother, she ended his life." Martha yelled. Martha missed her brother so much, both she and the general had a lot to talk about.
A lot has happened to her and her family. Both she and Douglas have become out cast to their family members, as Martha spoke, she tried her best to avoid the man who sat next to his crying wife.
While Kate had her guest coming to visit, Anna's guest were arriving too. Known figures with big names and a few industry friends that wanted to be aquainted to her and others who needed connection had all started to arrive. Their faces were intimidating as they weren't just any stars.
Anna wasn't a social butterfly, but that didn't mean her personality didn't attract people to herself. She might have industry friends, but she still needed real friends, people she could talk and interact with too.
The same could not be said about Nari, as the few people she knew had already started arriving too. But they weren't known figures. She was the celebrity of her crew. She had lost her credibility the very day she lost the diamond award to Anna, a lot of people didn't want to be on the losing side.
Ava and her mother had arrived along with the people she knew. Nari knew things like this would happen. She knew a few known faces will be present to visit Anna, so she had arranged fake friends herself. She couldn't be left out of the game too.
Anna cannot always have everything going on too. Nari was surrounded by people, the fake friends she had hired.
"Oh Nari we're so sorry for your loss." One of the model girls said. She wasn't a really popular model so no one cared about her.
"You must really feel so bad." Another girl said. Even if Nari's guest were more than Anna's, she wasn't satisfied by their presence. She was rather irritated. Anna had better guest than her, more important personalities surrounded Anna better than her.
Noah guest were present, her guest were present, meanwhile, Nari had nobodies visiting her. And to make matters worse, Mack arrived at the scene immediately. Nari has never felt more ashamed in her life.
Anna's husband is the richest man in the country while hers, just returned from the jungle looking like a malnourished animal.
Kate who noticed the situation frowned immediately. She didn't like that Nari looked like a slave next to Anna. Nari should be having Anna's luxurious lifestyle not the other way around.
Mack tried his best to avoid the man sitting next to crying Anna. Seeing how good she looked, he regretted everything he did in the past. He had the best woman by his side yet he didn't value her, now she belonged to someone else.
Seeing Anna with Noah is something Mack will never get used to ever again. He would always regret never treating her right. He did his best to avoid contact with the man. If only the people in there knows the kind of person seated in the same room with them, they would all bow at his feet.
Mack walked over to where Nari and his mother in law sat. "Good morning mother." He greeted Kate politely.
"Where were you all night Mack, we waited for you to return." Kate asked. She couldn't pretend like Mack isn't her son in law, she would have to accept him for who he is now.
"Kate, who's this?" Martha couldn't hide her curiosity as she stared at the malnourished looking man.
"This is Mack Yong, Nari's husband." The people who overheard the conversation all turned to look at Mack. Until now, the public figures there didn't recognize him anymore, but seeing him now, they all finally recognized him.
Nari hadn't expected the world to meet Mack Yong in this form yet. He wasn't looking very presentable, but there's nothing she can do now. Kate has just exposed her to the world.
"Oh my God, what happened to you?" A model from the girls that Nari had hired couldnt hide her mouth as she stared at him.
The other A list stars that once ate and dined with Mack couldn't believe this was his state now. They were all shocked to see him this way. Anna who had been crying up until now, could only glance at him, she wasn't in the right state of mind to understand anything happening around her.
The reporters around and paparazzi had already started to take pictures of him. Mack wasn't moved by the attention neither was he ashamed, infact this is all he wanted. To be publicized again. Every publicity, whether positive or negative was a blessing. This alone is elevating enough for him.
He was back on track, this here is his debut again...
Mack watched as everyone stared at him like some celebrity and he smiled.
"Life happened, but I'm glad to be back on track." He smiled. Whispers and murmurs continued and after a while, people where back to the subject at hand. Nari who had thought the world would mock her felt relieved when people pitied them.
They infact called her relationship with Mack genuine because she chose to stay with him even after he lost everything.
And just like that, Nari and Mack were back on track again.
