Chapter 423 NO MARRIAGE 1

1554words
Mack who left the slums, ran back to their family mansion in other to find his parents. He hoped and prayed as he left that his parents were fine. If anything happens to them, he didn't know what to do.

When Mack reached their family mansion, he was greeted by the peaceful atmosphere. There were maids moving in and out of the mansion as always. Mack had missed these larvish lifestyle a whole lot. If his mother didn't have issues with the Yong's family at the time, they would have never suffered in the first place, but even his family were scared of Noah Declan.

They had been like an outcast, No one wanted to be associated with them in any way.

Mack walked quietly into the mansion in hopes to finding his parents. This was his last hope, he prayed they were her and fine. He prayed nothing bad has happened to them, else he'll never be able to forgive himself for it.

"Mack, is that you?" Veronica who just stepped out of her bedroom asked the familiar figure standing in their living room. She had seen a lean man walk in, but he looked familiar, he looked so much like her son Mack.

Veronica had returned to their family mansion after discovering from Nari that Anna wasn't going to release her son anytime soon. There was no need fighting the only people that could help them plus she needed help. The money Mack had left for them wasn't enough to sustain them.

Since Noah Declan had let them go, there was no need suffering in the slums anymore. Veronica now wore her expensive clothes and jewels and dresses so nice and beautiful again. The proud Veronica was almost back, the only reason she has decided to be humble is because her husband was no longer the richest man in the family.

Though their family still had money, Henry Yong has lost the title of the richest man in the family. It was easier for her to get bullied by the other women in the family.

Returning back is something she would have done long ago, but pride and arrogance didn't let her return. When she did come back, her family didn't chase her away, they had rather welcomed her with open arms.

"Mother." Mack hugged his mother. She looked a lot healthier than a few months back. Guess he's the only one that had suffered a lot. If his mother was in a better condition, it meant one thing, Noah Declan has really let them off the hook quietly.

It meant he had paid for his sins and that Anna had moved on from whatever it was that happened between them.

"Where's father, how have you both been?" Mack asked.

"Henry is perfectly fine, he's recovering now Mack. How have you been? Anna, that girl..." Veronica called her name with so much hate. She had been there that day, Anna had mocked them and promised to never let Mack go because of Nari, what really made her change her mind?

"I'm free now mother. They're no longer after me anymore. We can do whatever we want in the city right now. We're free people." Mack mused. He could get his life back on track without fear anymore. There was no one to stop his dream anymore.

He would come back twn times stronger and deal with Noah Declan himself.

"Yes, Noah Declan sent a message to I and your father during our stay in that slum. He said you've paid for your sins and we were free to leave." Veronica told her son. She remembered that night like the back of her hands. They had been excited when the man Paul came to them.

"I wonder what changed. Did he hurt you? Are you hurt anywhere?" Veronica turned her son around as she atried checking him. She didn't want anything bad to happen to Mack, she would die if anything happens to her son.

"Don't bother too much mother, the most important thing is that you and father are fine." Mack said.

"Come Mack, I'll ask the maids to prepare something good for you, you don't look so good." Veronica carried her son into the mansion. As promised, she called the housekeeper along with the other maids and demanded for celebratory meal for her son. She was glad they were finally free, with Mack being here now, she could regain her position as the first lady of the mansion again.

Her son could get his life back on track with her help and they would be wealthy again. All they have to do, is avoid the Sui's and the Declan's.

By evening, the entire Yong's family were gathered in the dining room to celebrate the return of Mack Yong. Henry couldn't be more happier to see his son seated before him. His health has improved greatly since Noah let them go. Both he and his wife have been treated with love and respect since they returned. Even if Veronica wasn't really satisfied by the outcome.

She was desperate for her old life and wanted it back desperately. She wanted to hurt and mess with all of the people that once hurt her too.

"We're so glad you're back Mack, you almost gave your mother a heart attack." Tara, the eldest wife of the Yong family said. Veronica frowned a little at the woman words. She still harboured a little hate for Tara because she had asked the family not to help them when they needed them the most.

She had been the one to pass the order to the entire family to stay clear off the case. If only Mack had not been stupid back then, they would never have suffered the humiliation they did. Veronica felt like every word from the woman's lips wasn't sympathy at all, but mockery. She was mocking Veronica in a way.

"Tara's right. What really happened between you and the Declan's Mack, why did that man come after you?" Zara, another of Mack's aunt asked but before Mack could say anything, "He messed with the Sui's girl. Mack was engaged to her without an idea she was dating Noah Declan and that man almost ruined our family." Tara said what she had heard.

"You should stay away from those people this time Mack, our family will not suffer another great loss this time." Mack smiled.

"My son will be perfectly fine Tara, it's not like you were affected by whatever had happened in the past. You let us suffer." Veronica reminded them.

"We didn't bring the doom upon you now Veronica did we? You and your family made stupid decisions that almost affected our entire family, what did you want us to do?" Tara asked. Veronica frown deepedned at her words. This is what she had been avoiding and now it was back to hunt her. If Mack hadn't made those bad decisions, they would have never been in this place.

"You should at least be grateful you have a roof over your head and a better life now. All these wouldn't be possible if we had helped you back then." Tara was not

"Whatever happened in the past was a misunderstanding aunties. I'm already married to one of the Sui's daughters and were perfectly fine." Mack smiled. He didn't have the time for the women Convo or their mockery. All he cares about at the moment was getting his life back on track again.

"Oh that is bad." Zara commented.

"Whatever you do Mack, be careful and don't bring doom upon us for the second time, else you'll be thrown out again."

Once it was night, Veronica snuck into her son's room to speak to him. She couldn't believe Mack would still want to be with Nari after everything that had happened.

"What do you mean you're not going to divorce that girl, you cannot be married to a Sui or anyone related to them." Veronica barked in anger. She recalled Kate talking about her daughter being married to Mack and had demanded he divorced her that night. The last thing she wanted was to be related to Anna or anything that has to do with her family.

They wouldn't want whatever has happened before to repeat again. They have all learned their lessons.

"Mother, there's no need to create a fuzz, Nari and her mother need us now more than ever." Mack said.

"She's the reason we had lost everything in the first place Mack, why can't you learn? I don't want to be associated with those people, it's a good thing they're now nobodies in the society, which means we don't have to mingle with them." Veronica started.

"Mack you just got your life back, I don't want us to go back to the way we used to be. Nari will never be my daughter in law, I won't allow it." Veronica spat. She would do everything in her power to avoid getting close to those people.

Nari has been the reason for their downfall, going back to Nari is the dumbest thing her son will do. But she knew more than anyone Mack is stubborn and he wouldn't listen to her. She would have to come up with a plan.
