"You can vouch for Anna, but you can't believe a word I say?" Nari asked.
"I saw her with my own eyes that night. Anna's the only one that knew the password to the safe except the two of us. I saw her with a maid. But she didn't take anything that night, that maid did."
"What do you take me for Nari? A fool?" Kate grabbed her hair. That safe had all of her life savings and acquired possession. It's one of the things that make her a Sui. Kate felt like a child robbed off her very important candy and it irked her that Nari would still lie to her face after everything.
"Mother stop you're hurting me, why would I steal from you?" Nari struggled out of her hold and moved back a bit. She suddenly fell to her knees and started crying.
"If you don't believe me why not just kill me?" She yelled at Kate. "Here have this and kill me already." Nari picked a vase from the table as she handed it over to the woman before her. Kate who was stunned by her attitude couldn't hold the vase. She didn't know what to believe anymore.
Could Nari be saying the truth? Or was she trying to accuse Anna falsely again to save her neck?
She had created a monster and invited a demon into her family and now that demon has turned against her. How could she have trusted so blinded and be careless about matters like this?
Nari was adamant about everything. It's so obvious now that the Sui family have fallen to the ground and there's nothing left here anymore. She would never spill anything about stealing those jewels. It turns out that's the best things she did while she was with them. The little funds she stole were all with Mack, which is the reason she wanted him out of Anna's hold. Once he's out, they'll run away with everything she stole from the Sui's.
"Why would I have so much money and still choose to suffer with you?" Nari kept yelling.
"Anna must not have stolen your jewels back then because she's not a thief, but the maid who was there that night did so." Nari said.
"I didn't want to say anything because I was new and didn't want to cause problems already." Nari cried out holding her head as she dropped the heavy vase on the floor.
"I've never had any bad intentions towards you mother. Even if you never birth me, you're the first woman that had treated me like her child." Nari said twisting Kate's heart even more. Confusing people was her specialty, no one can beat her to her game, not even the almighty Kate Sui.
"Anna was upset with you that night because you announced my adoption. It's possible she exchanged the jewels out of anger or made the maid see the safe password and then she stole all of it." Nari continued trying to convince Kate who stared at her in confusion. Her story made no sense, but it did make sense in a way.
Kate should have known even if she thought only she knew the password to her safe, Anna is a cunning demon. She's always been that way since a child. So malicious and pretentious. She would never stop till she gets everything she wants.
Kate couldn't believe Anna would do this to her. Just how much is she willing to go to destroy her?
"I might not have understood what was happening that night, but I never saw that maid again after that night." Nari said calmly.
"It's okay if you don't believe me mother, I'm not forcing you to. If you want me to leave, I'll go too since you no longer trust me." Nari got up from where she knelt and was about to leave when Kate held her wrist.
"Don't do that child. We can't let little jewels create a huge misunderstanding between us." Kate said and the girl who had her face faced to the other direction smiled. This is all she wanted, to convince this stupid woman she did nothing and the fool seems to be falling for it.
"But you just hit me and accused me of lying mother. It's clear my time in this mansion with you have been nothing but a joke. A little matter arise and you blame me for everything." Nari continued to play the victim.
"I'm sorry for reacting the way I did Nari. You're my child, and nothing will change that. I was just too angry and blinded by the humiliation I faced today." Kate confessed. Whoever had stolen her jewels had caused her great humiliation before everyone today and she was willing to pay them back.
The anger had made her blinded to the truth that all she thought was the betrayal from Nari.
"I'm sorry for not trusting you my child. I should have never thought you would betray me. It has always been Anna, I'm pretty sure she planned all of these to humiliate us too." Kate said. She couldn't believe she had raised such vicious girl from a little age. That child she had asked her father to kill off has turned out to be a great burden to her life.
"So that's why she brought the dresses she brought?" Nari played in.
"She brought clothes?" Kate asked.
"Yes, it turns out she wants us to attend the stupid party with her." Nari said.
"Good." Kate wiped her daughters tears gently. "Then prepare so that we can leave. Some people needs a few more brain cells. Anna must provide my jewels today while I expose and disgrace her out of the Declan's mansion for good." Kate declared. She would humiliate her neice today and destroy her image before everyone tonight.
She would make sure Anna pays for all of the damages she's caused her. All of the pain and humiliation she's caused her. Nari didn't say anything or try to clear the air with Kate. She knew if she did, everything will fall back on her. She would just let the old woman ride in her delusions. It's not like she can harm Anna in the Declan's mansion.
Nari stared at the dresses Anna had picked for them. It's been so long since she's had to try dress of such good quality. Even while with Kate and the general, dresses like these were off limit for her. They were just too pricey for her and she couldn't afford them most of the days.
Anna had the perfect life. A life she could only dream of. If she cannot steal that life away from Anna, she might as well get her out of there for good. This time, she needed to come up with a more beautiful plan to get Anna Sui out of the way. Her disappearance is long overdue.
Anna needs to be out of here for her to shine. "There's no need accusing and humiliating her mother. We'll just end up humiliating ourselves." Nari suggested.
"I'll never let her go free Nari. Anna must pay for everything she's done." Kate declared.
"Yes, but the last time we rushed to make decisions, look where it got us mother. We have no money right now or anything to support us. Don't forget Anna is the only support we have." Nari said.
"So what do we do?" Kate asked.
"We need to find a way to make Anna free Mack. He's the only one that can help us now."
