Chapter 391 A THIEF IN THE MANSION

1010words
Kate walked into a more cheaper store where she sold the fake jewels. These store confirmed that the jewels were indeed fake but since they were shiny, they had purchased it for five thousand only.

She could manage this little amount for the time being. She couldn't believe someone had actually exchange all of her jewels with fake ones. She had to know the fool that thinks they could steal from her. The person that had stolen her jewels and replaced them with fake ones.

While in her father's mansion for years, Kate has always hidden her jewel in a safe and only she knew the password of the safe till Nari arrived. Did that daughter of hers steal the jewel?

She knew Nari was a little bit naughty the first few months she had adopted her, but she never thought she would have the boldness to steal such things of importance from her. How could she do that? She hopes that foolish daughter of hers hasn't sold them for a more cheaper amount cause hell will break lose today.

One thing Kate never plays about are her jewels, she doesn't play about her diamonds and golds and blinks.

When Kate arrived back at home, she was greeted by Nari who sat on the sofa waiting for her arrival. She heard the quiet movement on the door and jumped up.

"We're attending the party mother." Nari said with a smile. She was too excited that she didn't see the look on the face of her mother. Kate was yet to believe Nari would betray her like that. All her life she's always called Anna a thief and an evil child, but never has her neice stolen something these valuable from her before.

"Anna sent a few dresses over and jewelries, we can finally attend the ball like everyone else." Nari smiled so innocently.

"And what happens to the other jewelries in there?" Kate asked. She was already so furious with her daughter.

"What jewels mother?" Nari asked innocently, as if having no idea what she had done. She knew Kate would find out sooner or later, but she never thought it would be like this. It would be easy to blame the maids for it but there are no maids around and only she knew the safe password.

Nari has thought about a means of escaping from Kate's wrath over and over since morning, and now, it's time to implement her plans.

"I'm sorry I didn't ask mother, did you sell the jewels?" She asked so innocently that if Kate wasn't already used to her tricks by now she too would have fallen for it.

"I brought you into my home Nari, fed and cared for you only for you to steal from me?" Kate asked furiously.

"What are you talking about mother?" Nari asked again.

"Oh please drop the act. How long were you going to hide it from me? You should have at least said something when you saw me leave, it would have saved us all the embarrassment and shame today." Kate clicked her tongue.

A lowly woman as Victoria and Sasha has insulted her today over the jewelries Nari had stolen. If she had confessed to her, all of these wouldn't have happened. Those jewelries are worth millions, Kate couldn't begin to think of where she must have kept them. Or what she had done with them.

Nari is not a jeweler, she has no idea how much those golds ke even the diamonds are worth. They were all customized for Kate alone.

"Mother..." Nari's words were cut short when she recieved a thunderous slap from her mother. She's never seen Kate this furious before, not even for Anna.

"Where did you keep the money and jewels Nari, I'm don't playing games with you. How dare you steal from me after everything I've done for you?" Kate barked at her. She would take anything but not the fact that Nari would be so bold to steal from her. She loved her like a mother would love her her own. There is nothing Kate hasn't done for her and this is all she got?

"Mother what are you talking about, I've done nothing to you?" Nari cried out. She would never admit to stealing. It wasn't her fault she had stolen those jewels, it was Mack's idea. He had been the one to force her to destroy the Sui and run away with everything they owned. Nari didn't want that.

"Only two people in that mansion knew the password to the safe where I keep my jewels. And those two people is us Nari. I trusted you so much yet you broke my trust." Kate yelled at her. The fact that Nari was still lying about it made her even more upset about everything.

Nari is the last person she had expected to betray her this much.

"Mother I promise you, I didn't touch your jewelries." She held her swollen cheek.

"And who said only the two of us know about that safe password?" Nari said biting her lips. By now, her eyes were already red with tears. She knew she had to get herself out of it somehow, and this is the only way she could think of.

"What are you talking about? I never told anyone the password of that safe except you. Not even my sister or niece knew I kept those jewelries there." Kate said.

"Mother if you can just listen to me. I can't believe you would point accusing fingers on me without asking."

"Who else knows then. And don't you dare mention the maids. Because I made sure no one knew about the safe." Kate warned. It was easy to blame the maids since they cleaned and moved through the entire place, but she had been very careful for years not to let anyone into her safe.

Nari knew accusing the maids was too far, she wouldn't even be stupid to come up with such cheap lies. "Anna." She blurted out.
