Chapter 389 FAKE JEWELS 3

1211words
Not wanting to cause a scene, Victoria moved aside to allow her old friend to perform her duties before her. She was not even here to find out any rumours or gossip about Kate; she was just here to trade a small necklace. Victoria did not have time for it.

"Kate, you do not need to have been so impolite. Victoria was merely concerned. The woman who had escorted Victoria to the jewellery exchange was offended by Kate's treatment of her friend, as if they were trash or some group of jobless gossipers. In terms of social standing, the Sui's were superior to them in the society, but that did not mean they were not important either.

"That is why you should always mind your own business." Kate replied, waving them off. It is not her intention to spend the entire day in here; she cannot waste her time with two local women who are both beneath her feet.

"This is not the way to address an old acquaintance, Kate. Especially someone who has always supported you. Victoria has never said anything mean about your family, and you are aware of this." The woman spoke. She wanted to continue but Victoria held her hands from saying anything else. Whatever is going on here isn't worth the fight.

"That is not my business, Sasha. You can go back to dog licking your friends ass as always and leave the bone for the big dogs." Kate said with crossed legs.

"Can we head to your office now, there are just so many unwanted guest that I don't want knowing about my business." Kate said.

"I'm sorry ma'am, but everything we do in here must be done before everyone as evidence that we didn't cheat or decieve any customer." The manager said politely.

"Then you can attend to them first, I don't mind." Kate said staring at the women at the back. What she was about to do is the most embarrassing thing in the world. Everyone knew the only people who visit places like this are those who are stranded and are looking for quick money.

Kate on the other hand has never done such exchange in her life. Each time she needed jewels, she had jewelers ready to kiss her feet to exchange jewels for her, but today, she was in here trying to fight for a spot while she keep her reputation intact before the women she had insulted.

"Do your thing Kate. We're perfectly fine and can wait. You were here before us, who knows how long you've waited for your turn." Victoria said immediately understanding the situation at hand. It was her time to laugh at her old time friend now turned begger. They can decieve the media and everyone, but they can never decieve normal people like her.

The news have been true, the Sui's have no money. That is why Kate was easily offended by her words. She's ashamed, but her pride will not let her say or do anything about it.

"She's right ma'am. You've been standing here for quite some time, it is only right we attend to you first. Please come this way, whatever we do here remains in here you don't have to worry about anything." The manager carried Kate to the next counter where he usually check the jewels.

"Alright. Make sure you don't mix up my jewels with those cheap, low quality things." Kate said. She opened her bag and brought out the black sack she had used in wrapping all of her expensive jewels. It was a little bit embarassing for her to exchange this much jewels in one go, but she didn't mind. All that matters was that after this little exchange, she would have enough money to stand firmly again.

Victoria ignored her and brought out the ring she wanted to exchange herself. It was a little old wedding ring with multiple diamond scattered around it. She didn't see a need for it anymore and decided to get a few change from it.

"How much do you think it's worth?" She asked the girl who stared at the price of jewel.

"These looks beautiful. Judging from today's market, it should be around 5million. This is a 50peice diamond necklace, it's worth that high." Kate greedy eyes followed the ring she thought had no value before. If this little peice of trash in Victoria's hands can produce such money, what will her carefully crafted jewels produce?

She smiled. Oh her days of suffering was finally over. It was time to teach her neice a little lesson for ever thinking she could play in her face.

"Please handle them with care as I will be back to get each one of them. These jewels aren't just ordinary jewels, they're handcrafted from the best of the best. One of one which means it was crafted for me and me alone." Kate said proudly for Victoria and her friend to hear.

"I don't even have to tell you how much each one of them is worth. You're a jewelry expert yourself so you should know." Kate scattered the jewels on the table. They were indeed shiny and looked so beautiful. At first the Jewelers eyes shown with myth, and then a slight frown appeared on his forehead when he noticed something strange about them.

He picked a jewel and Kate slapped it out of his hands. "Where are your gloves Mr, only my print should be on them." She demanded.

"Wow, it cost quite a fortune, but why does she want to give them all out for rent?" She heard gossips from the staffs but ignored it. At least now they know she wasn't just anyone. She's Kate Sui, the daughter of one of the biggest army general back in the day. Back then when they valued soldiers, the general was a very well respected man.

"Maybe the rumors are true. They've gone broke and now she's selling all of her jewels." She overheard them and when she turned to look at the staffs talking, they each walked away. Sasha who had heard the same gossip giggled. Anything to get back at Kate for calling her names earlier.

The jeweler returned with his equipment. In other to give her money, he needed to be sure what he was purchasing was accurate and important. If it isn't, it's his loss then.

"What is that?" Kate asked when he brought out a metallic substance close to the first jewel.

"A fake jewelry detector. We use this all the time because we realize people tend to bring fake jewelry in here to sell them for the actual price of the real ones. To avoid such mistake all the time, we decided to get these." The manager smiled.

"Don't worry ma'am, your jewelry looks real, it wouldn't take long and we'll be done." He assured her and Kate nodded. She knows her jewels are from the best of the best, no fakeness detected.

Kate was proud again as she glanced at the two losers still standing at the counter and waiting for their transaction to be completed. When the machine came close to the first jewel, it made a red beeping sound indicating it was fake.
