She watched him beinf her fingers to his mouth as he placed sweet kisses on them occasionally. Anna wanted a clue, she wanted to know something, but Noah wasn't giving her any answer. The numerous questions running through her mind were all at the tips of her tongue, but the people walking with them made her swallow her question. There's no way Evelyn will not hear her questions even if she was to ask.
Inside, the walls were painted in calming shades of blue, with a large screen mounted on the wall beside a comfortable-looking bed. Their doctor, the small man smiled warmly as they stepped in.
"Ready to meet your little one?" Dr. Chinchillas asked, his voice soft and full of warmth. He motioned toward the bed, inviting Anna to lie down.
Anna's heart fluttered. "I don't know." She confessed. She has never been so nervous in her life but she wanted to trust Noah's doing. If he isn't panicking about all of these then she shouldn't panic either. One thing she knows was that Noah is always a step ahead.
He never does things without reason. He squeezed her hand once more, silently telling her he was with her, every step of the way. Anna could feel her racing heart calm little by little. She trusted him.
Dr. Chinchillas prepped the machine, pulling out a small bottle of cool gel. "This might feel a little cold, but it helps me get a clear picture of the baby," He explained before applying it gently to Anna's abdomen.
Anna flinched slightly at the chill but relaxed as Noah leaned down, his forehead briefly touching hers. "You're doing great," he murmured. It would be the first time she was doing this, and what makes it more weird was that she wasn't pregnant herself.
She was only playing in here. Anna immediately felt so sad. This joke was toouxj for her to take in. A barren woman like herself should never play with things like this.
With a small wand, Dr. Chinchillas began to move across Anna's belly, her eyes focused on the monitor as if searching for something she knew was not there. So did Noah, and the rest of the Declan's family.
For a few seconds, the room was filled with the gentle whirring of the machine, the only sound other than the rhythmic beat of Anna's breath.
And then, there it was—an unmistakable shapes on the screen, delicate and small, yet brimming with life.
Anna's breath caught in her throat. "Is that…?" Beth couldn't finish the sentence. She didn't need to. The wonder in her voice said it all.
"That's the babies" Dr. Chin confirmed with a smile, adjusting the image to give them a clearer view. "I think this just confirms our argument Mr Declan. Congratulations once again." Anna blinked to be sure she was hearing correctly.
She stared at the monitor to be sure she wasn't dreaming before turning to Noah who smiled at her. His smile confirmed everything she wanted to know.
But this is a joke right? She couldn't be pregnant. Noah said it was impossible, he said the doctor told him it was impossible.
"There's the heartbeat." The doctor tapped a button, and the room filled with the rapid, steady rhythm of their babies heart. They aren't just having a baby, but two.
Two freaking babies?
How?
When?
What?????
Anna's mind was a choas. She was too shocked to utter a word. Was this some sort of joke? Because of it is, she sure is going to kill Noah today. He can't be playing such way with her.
"I'm pregnant?" Anna asked and the doctor stunned herself. This was not possible, she couldn't be pregnant.
"Of course you are madam, why else would you be doing this now?" Chin smiled at her. He has had this conversation with Noah when they invited him the day she fainted. Though he said the course of the fainting was due to shock, they had seen something else.
He told Noah about it and asked him to bring his wife for proper check up, but Noah never returned. Anna wasn't in a risky situation surprisingly. Her children are very healthy this time unlike the last results. Noah hadn't believed him when he told him, so they agreed to observe her for a few more weeks.
He tried checking for signs of early morning sickness as usual or anything to give her away after that faint but he found none. That's the reason he has gone with the whole idea of pranking his family in the first place.
"Anna, you don't look so happy about it. This is good news, I'm not just going to be a great grandfather of one child, I have two coming my way. This calls for celebration." Vincent shouted for joy. He's the most excited person in the room even if his daughter in law looked all shocked and surprised about the news.
"But I can't have children. It was your words." Anna said. This must be a dream. After being insulted for days by her family and the Shens, she's going to be a mother after all. She was really not useless at all as the society deemed her to be.
"That was the early diagnosis madam and I'm not the one to performed that test." Chin explained.
"Whoever did that told your husband it was a 50-50 chance and that you might still conceive a child again." The doctor explained. He wasn't the one who had diagnosed her, but he had seen her medical report. It was pretty bad before but she recovered.
"You knew all along?" Anna turned to her hubby and Noah nodded. That explains his silence, but why didn't he tell her?
"I had my suspicion, that's why I didn't want you to stress yourself." Noah confessed. Just like the doctor had told him, he wanted to observe her for a more days, that's why he had agreed to these scan result, so that they'll be sure she was actually pregnant.
