She tried running out of the room, but saw a few people walking by and hurried back in. Now is not the time to be caught. She would lose the only job she's managed to find in Summerlane.
"Anna will be here to kill you all. I know my neice will never let me die here. She'll come for me, she'll come soon and everyone will pay." Grace kept screaming as she moved around.
"Anna, come quick please. I'm in here, where are you. Where is my Anna?"
"Shuu Grace please calm down, you'll get us in serious trouble." Meredith said in a hushed tone, trying to calm the woman but the more she tried, the more Grace yelled. At this point she was so sure that the people outside could hear Grace.
She couldn't afford to be seen in here with Grace today. She knew she had to do something quickly. Her gaze darted around the room and she immediately saw a whip on the table. The last maid to attend to Grace must have forgotten it in here. Meredith grabbed the whip immediately and the woman who had been screaming until this moment suddenly feel to the floor.
"Please." Grace said, her body shaking so badly. It's obvious she's scared of the stick. Meredith didn't know whether to be happy or sad about this. This woman doesn't look mad at all, she's never been mad, but these people have turned a normal person into a mad woman because of money.
If this woman was really Anna Sui's aunt as she has said, then Meredith knew she had to do something about Grace. She knew she had to help Grace one way or another.
"Please don't hurt me. I don't like it." Grace pleaded. She didn't dare raise her face or look at Meredith. It wasn't the nurses she was afraid of, it was the whip they used on her. It has caused so much pain to her that she was now scared of it.
"I won't hurt you Grace." Meredith said to the woman. She tried moving close to her but Grace quickly bolted from where she sat. She was terrified of the girl now.
"Grace, please I'm only here to help you." Meredith tried to explain. They didn't have all day. She only wants to a few things about Grace so that she can help her.
"Father, father those bad people are here. Don't worry I won't let them harm us. I'll fight them father." Grace rushed to her father's side as she spoke to the man who looked like he only had that day to live. The general was staring at one direction quietly. He couldn't understand a word anyone or his daughter was saying anymore.
Meredith doubt he would ever recover, especially after the staunch hardwork he has been forced to do in here. The general looked worse than he did a week ago, and he was getting worse by the minute.
Meredith quickly dropped the whip on the floor and walked to Grace's side. It was clear now what the woman was scared of. At least she now knows how to silent her finally.
"Grace, listen, Grace, I'm not here to hurt you." She said grabbing the woman by her hands and Grace quickly hid her face.
"Grace, I'm here to help you. Trust me when I say I can take you to your neice Anna." Meredith assured.
"Anna?" Grace asked.
"Where's my baby Anna? Is she here?"
"Yes, yes she is Grace. She'll be here soon to take you home. But that can only be possible by your help." The door of the ward quickly opened and a cleaner stepped in with two other cleaners. After so much arguments and confrontation, they have been instructed by the doctor to get Grace and her father out of the special ward as they have both been transferred to the general ward filled with mad people to it's brim.
Meredith has been smart to hide under the bed quickly before they saw her, but that didn't mean her cleaning agent was not there with Meredith boldly written on it. She let out a soft exhale as she stared at all three women in the room now with Grace and the old man.
The nurse that has stepped in was the same nurse who warned her before.
"Let's hurry up with this job quickly so that we can leave. I cannot spent another minute in the same room as a mad woman." One of the women said.
"I don't think she's mad, it's just so unfortunate she was brought in here." Another woman said.
"If only the doctor can be patient about things. Maybe her sister is trying to gather money for her treatment." The third person said.
"We've seen this case countless times before. She is abandoned. Who would want to send money to a mental asylum when they have pressing matters that need money? There's no hope for them now." The senior cleaner said walking to Grace's side. Grace immediately jumped from where she sat and picked a lamp in her defence.
She knew all of these women and she knew they were all here to hurt her. They're the bad ones, all they do is afflict pain on her. She would never let them harm her or her grandfather anymore.
"What are you doing you mad woman?" One of the cleaners picked the whip from where Meredith had dropped it and started whipping Grace all over again.
"Sit!" She yelled.
"Sit you crazy woman!"
"I did nothing, please please." Grace screamed. "Anna, Anna." She cried out her neice's name.
Meredith closed her eyes. She couldn't watch the scene unfold before her. If only she could tell Grace this was not the way to go about this. If only she could reach the woman and help her.
