"Know your place. Just because you're my in-law now, doesn't mean you're a part of the family." Kate said just the woman to hear and Veronica's face fell flat. Kate hadn't forgotten the humiliation and curses this woman threw at Anna because she thought her son was superior. Even if she doesn't like Anna, this woman has dared embarrass them too. Now look how the tables have turned.
"I am so sorry," Veronica said as she walked to the side. Kate was right, she looked so different from the women in the room. Even if the dress she wore was the most expensive she had gotten since she became poor, she still looked so different from the rest of the people in here.
Seeing the guest, Veronica missed her old life. A life she had lost because of Nari, the same girl who watched her being humiliated tonight and said nothing. The same girl her family picked up and helped because of her sad story. The same person that is the true reason they're broke today.
If Nari had left Anna alone, she would never have been at the mercy of Kate or the Sui family.
Veronica broke her gaze from the girl, Henry rushing to her side as he tried to console her. She bet this people don't know anything about Nari. Well that's because she hide traces of the public ever finding out Nari has abandoned and shut her birth mother and poor family when she became a star.
She was ashamed of them and wanted to mingle with the rich so badly, so she locked her family in a mental asylum where they were being maltreated. She wants to expose Nari and make her pay for what she is to them, but she doesn't have enough resources to do so.
Back then, Veronica has ben so wealthy and has the world at the palm of her hands, but today...
"Are you alright?" Henry asked worriedly and his wife nodded. She tried to ignore the mocking laughter from the women around. The ones she had looked down upon. She would have to find a way of getting back everything Noah stole from her. If she ever wasn't serious about it, tonight has made her even more serious.
"I'm fine." She smiled.
"Thank you all for honoring my invitation." Kate said gaining everyone's attention. She knew many of these people didn't come because they cared, they came because of new things to talk about.
"My father was brutally injured by one of the maids who claim they were sent by a family member who we don't know yet." She said, already sowing in their minds that a family member did it, so that it would seem believable when she finally accuses Anna of it. She had thought about this plan over and over and over again.
Anna is the right person to blame, that way, she'd never be able to get her inheritance ever again. There's no way she'd let Anna take everything away from them. Nari is better off taking everything than Anna.
He has been suffering in the hospital for a while now. The doctor proclaimed him dead on arrival, but papa fought for his life. I believe he didn't die because he wants to expose whoever did it and he would." She said earning silent murmurs from the people around.
Kate smiled at this. She has already started to sow her evil seed in their heart. Slowly, people will see that her accusations against Anna, isn't just a coincidence. She would blame Noah for it too, claiming they had both planned it because the General changed his will from Anna to Nari.
Kate has planned to stand on what had happened a few months ago. The disowning saga. She has planned to use that on her favour.
Oh how things are going just the way she wanted them to...
"My father, general Gabriel Sui, is alive today to celebrate with us all." She gesture her hands to the side and Nari pushed him before the audience. They all couldn't clap or smile when they saw him. Everyone was silent for a moment, shocked at what the general has turned into.
He looked like...
He looked like an imbecile...
His hands were bent, neck bent and his mouth wide open as siliva kept falling out of his mouth. It wasn't a pleasant sight. So many people started to question Kate's reason for showing her father to the world in this manner. Did she want to humiliate the general.
The man doesn't look okay. He should be locked inside and not to be exposed like this.
At the same time, Grace and Anna hurried into the mansion only to pause when they saw their grandfather and father exposed to the eyes of judging humans. Even right now, the humans couldn't judge him anymore.
"This doesn't look good for the Sui's." A man said to his wife.
"If the general is this way, what will become for the Sui's. His two daughters and granddaughter are useless." Grace frowned at this. Kate didn't even inform them about throwing a welcoming father for their father who just got discharged.
"How dare you say that about us?" Grace asked but the man didn't look like one that regretted what he said.
"But he isn't wrong Kate. I'm sure your father will be very ashamed of you all when he gets better." The woman said.
"You don't have to kick us out, we're leaving already. We rather be in our mansion, than see something like this. Invite us when there's something more celebratory to celebrate." The woman held her husband and they all started walking away. So did a lot of people who couldn't stand to see the General's condition.
Everyone frowned at the Sui's. "Do better Kate, this is wrong of you all." Another woman said as she left.
Kate stared at the guest leave one after another. She didn't didn't know how things turned this way. Only when the people in the hall reduce did she Anna and Grace in the crowd. Anna's eyes moistened on seeing her grandfather's condition. She couldn't believe this is the state he's in at the moment.
She rushed towards him, but before she couldn't reach him she was pushed by her Aunt. Anna lost her footing and stumbled to the floor. The heiress of the Sui's family belittled and humiliated before everyone. Grace helped her neice up.
Nari laughed. This is little of what she wants for Anna. She wants to see her suffer so much that she'll never be able to lift her face anymore. She would never rest until she achieve what she wants.
"How dare you show your face here after everything you did to father?" Kate asked and the little guest who stayed back for the sake of their relationship with the Sui's started wondering what Kate was driving at.
"Why wouldn't she Kate. What right do you have to kick Anna out of the family, yet this imposter can stay?" Grace pointed at Nari and Veronica from where she stood smiled. She had her leverage of exposing Nari now. She would use Grace and Anna to expose the girl.
The people in there began to look at the girl and Kate in a different way. Nari is not a part of the family, as far as they all know, Anna is the only granddaughter of the general, so why is she not allowed to see her grandfather but Nari is?
"Aunt Grace, you're speaking like you are not aware of what Anna did." Nari retorted in a stylish way. Still maintaining her pitiful expression, like she was being bullied to decieved everyone. Anna hadn't even said anything, she only checked her bleeding ankle.
She had scratched her ankle hard on the floor when she fell and attended to it. She didn't know how to hide this little injury from Noah this time, before he makes her family go bankrupt again. The last thing she wanted was her family getting hurt.
She knows she can not do anything once her hubby is angry.
"You mean something you did? Grace asked. She hadn't told Anna about Kate's plans because she didn't want her to worry, but right now, this people are doing too much.
"That's enough Grace, I have watched you talk more than you know for hours. Nari is my daughter and is now a member of this family whether you like it or not." Kate said before everyone. She has been willing to do this a long time ago, to announce Nari, but the people who know the girl knows she's not worth it.
Nari is a social climber, she would drain you and dispose of you. Veronica wished she could tell the Sui's about it.
