Everyone looked tired and exhausted, especially after the flight and sudden red carpet event. They hadn't all gone to their rooms like Anna did after the introduction, the majority of the ladies stayed back to party and mingle with the others. Everyone needed friends and allies to last long in the competition.
"Good morning, eligible diamonds," Laura Craft said to the ladies, who barely responded to her greetings. Most of them glared at her, while others had frowns on their faces.
Laura looked as beautiful as always in an elegant black dress that hugged her perfect figure, revealing her womanly curves. Her body gave no hint of her age. As a former diamond herself, Laura was an expert in modeling and beauty, a fact that was not lost on anyone in the room.
"For today's task, you will be showcasing your talents. I'm pretty sure before you became models, each of you had a unique skill or talent that sets you apart from the multitudes. Whether it's singing, dancing, playing an instrument, or any other special ability, today is your chance to shine and show us what you've got." She continued.
The room was filled with a silent murmur as the girls listened to Laura and conversed among themselves. Some of the girls exchanged nervous glances, while others seemed eager to impress. As models and beauty queens, each of them had honed their talents.
Before reaching their breakout stage, they had been forced to practice skills that could make them stand out. Every lady in the room had a unique talent that set her apart from the rest.
Anna had done this before. She had won a few awards and attended several award shows with Nari while growing up. Both ladies knew what these events were about. While Nari was exceptional at singing, Anna excelled at playing instruments. They usually blended so well during every family gathering and important event until they eventually stopped.
Nari just decided to stop singing when Anna the hot more praise from important people than her.
Anna recalled telling her grandfather to help her best friend into the music industry but Nari declined. She had been so naive to know about her evil intentions. Nari wanted to be a model so badly because she was one, not only that, she wanted to be Anna so much. She wanted Anna's live.
As Anna got lost in her thoughts she notice a piercing eyes on her when she turned, she couldn't find anyone looking at her. Nari was only just engrossed in a conversation with a girl and that was all. She wasn't even looking her way, but why did it seems like she was.
Anna took a deep breath, feeling a bit more awake now. Back then she had practiced countless times in the past to be so good in playing almost all of the musical instruments but she had only one problem, performing in front of crowd of people.
She couldn't perform without the help of one person and Nari had used that against her. She always mocked her after every performance and told her she didn't do well even if others praised her. How could she forget?
But right now, Anna was scared because she has forgotten most things concerning any music she once played. After the accident, even if she did recall a lot about her life before, she had forgotten a lot about her life too. Not just Noah, but most things in her life.
She couldn't remember how she played those notes, the only thing she recalled was the praises after each performance. Anna bit her lips. How could she forget something as important as this at a time like this, how would she learn. How would she know.
"Alright, ladies," Laura continued, "there will be special guest to guide you on what you have to do. The judges will be introduced to you later in the day." Laura said her eyes meeting Nari's.
"You have thirteen hours to prepare. We'll meet back here at 4:00 PM sharp. Good luck!"
As the girls dispersed to get ready, Laura turned to Nari, "Meet me later, I have a special task for you." She said and started walking away. The other girls who saw Laura talk to Nari quickly rushed to her side as they swapped around her. Everyone were users looking for the next hot thing to use so that they could stand out.
Anna walked into her room, on her way, "Anna." Someone called from behind and she turned to look at who it was. It was a girl with brown hair. She was dark in complexion having beautiful green eyes.
"I'm Ava Harrison." She said calmly. Anna tried to recall where she heard the name before, she wasn't really the social type and didn't spend her time monitoring the next model to compete with.
"Don't bother, you don't know who I am. But I'm truly a big fan of yours." She said for Anna to smile back. She had no idea she had gotten so popular to have fans around the world. Girls like her who looked up to her.
"It's nice to meet you." Anna smiled.
"It's an honor to meet you Anna. I'll talk to you later?" Anna nodded and watched hop away. She smiled as she watched Ava varnish from her sight.
Anna walked back to her room where Lola was waiting for her. She had been the one to wake her up this morning when the call came and she was up.
"What's the first task?" Lola was chewing the leftover berry on the table as she watched Anna step in.
"Talent hunt." Came Anna's dull tone. It would have been better if they had chosen something she was ateast good at, or something she remembers.
