"Aunt Grace " Anna called the woman who placed her cup of tea on the table as she listened to the news.
"You're home so late, I almost thought you wouldn't be returning back home today." Grace teased but her neice didn't smile or blush as always.
"Please come with me aunty we have somewhere important to got to." Noah stepped in almost immediately, his expression indifferent as he stared at his wife. She was shaking a bit, and he could tell she was trying to control her fear.
"Is everything okay?" Grace asked, her eyes moving between Noah and Anna.
"Your father was involved in an accident and is in the hospital." Grace panicked immediately, her eyes going wild as she frowned. She didn't like the sound of accident. What accident could make them admit her father in the hospital and not give him the usual house treatment they did?
"How did it happen? What hospital is he in?" Grace got up from where she sat.
"We're on our way there now." Anna said to her Aunt. She also had no idea what was happening, that's why she wanted to see her grandfather herself to know how complicated it is. She hoped it wouldn't be something serious. Anna hoped it would be a mild injury that could just be healed quickly.
Grace found her way out of the mansion with Anna and Noah as they all stepped back inside the car. The drive to the hospital was quiet as everyone was lost in their thoughts. Noah held Anna's hand, offering silent support. Grace sat beside them, her anxiety palpable.
When they reached the hospital, they hurried inside, making their way to the General's room. They were met by a nurse who guided them to the Intensive Care Unit were the general laid.
"There he is." The nurse said pointing at a glass room. "He's stable but needs to be monitored closely," she explained as they reached the door.
Anna's heart sank as she saw her grandfather lying on the bed with different pipes attached to his mouth, he looked so frail and vulnerable. Grace rushed to his side, her eyes welling up with tears. "Father, what happened to you?" she whispered, holding his hand gently. But the general said nothing to her, he didn't open his eyes or move his body.
He was in deep coma, almost like he was sleeping or possibly dead.
Noah stood by the door, watching his wife and her aunt cry over the general. He might have been an asshole while he was normal or alive, but he is their family after all. Families go through series of conflicts but at the end, they settle their differences and come together.
He only hoped Kate doesn't have a hand in the general's accident and it's all the maids and butler. He wanted to believe she had not tried to kill her father.
Anna tried to calm her aunt who cried bitterly beside her grandfather while she controlled herself not to cry too much. She knew one of them had to be strong for the other and it had to be her. They hadn't expected anything like this to happen.
Her grandfather was here fighting for his life alone while they partied through the night. She felt so terrible at her actions. Maybe she should have been there with him, maybe if she was present in the mansion he wouldn't be in this condition.
Noah left the room as he went to speak with the doctor. He wanted to know the Generals condition if there is any improvement. As he arrived at Fletcher's office, he saw the man smiling as if he had been waiting for him.
"It's almost like you're a sorcerer Mr Declan."
"Call me sir, I don't need the nurses knowing about my identity." Fletcher quickly nodded. He had forgotten the man before him was no ordinary man either, all of these people in here would faint of they find out the infamous Noah Declan who didn't have an identity was in here with them.
"How is he? Any improvements?" Fletcher shook his head. "The same as I predicted." He said.
"Let's hope he makes it through the day again. But there's no improvement whatsoever." He sighed. He didn't know what miracle had happened last night, but he had been intrigued by the general's case. It was indeed rare and unique. Noah has been right about the old man being a fighter, but how long can he do it.
From the few test result they carried out, the general already had a little heart complications. He only prayed a miracle would happen this time.
"You're here for the model girl and her family which is so unlike you." Fletcher eyed Noah suspiciously. Everyone who has met Noah knows he is a reserved man, but no one has actually seen him with any woman before.
A few top notch female celebrities have tried to get close to him in the past, he never gave them any attention no matter what they did, which brought up the rumor about him being gay, in the upper class.
Not everyone knew of his marriage with Anna Sui and Noah wanted it that way. The more people don't know, the better for him and his peace of mind. To the world, Anna is as single as any young girl her age, but to him, she's the sweetest thing he's ever had.
His wife, his life...
Noah didn't bother explaining anything to him and just let him think whatever he wanted. People were good at spreading fake news and rumors and he loved it as long as it didn't affect his wife and family.
"I need a favour from you." Noah said to the doctor.
