He had tasked his assistant, Alfred, with bringing the records for their financial transactions over the last two months, and the results were staggering. Half a billion had been spent on what he considered frivolous and unnecessary things. Nari and her mother, Kate, had been draining their accounts with reckless spendings.
"For Nari. What else would I use it for?" Kate replied nonchalantly.
The general gritted his teeth at her dismissive tone. When had Kate, once his most responsible daughter, become so irresponsible? Since adopting Nari, she had rarely visited her office. Her days were consumed with extravagant spending sprees.
Noah's action today had been a wake-up call, revealing just how close they were to financial ruin if Kate continued her unchecked spending. The thought of bankruptcy scared him to his bones, and the general realized he had to take drastic measures to prevent their downfall.
If he doesn't, their downfall would be deadly. He did not work so hard for years to be ruined at this point in his life because of his foolish daughter. He had to stop this.
"You and that notorious daughter of yours have been cut off from all financial usage for the next three months. Your allowance has been reduced to just 10%," the general declared, his voice firm.
Kate's eyes widened in shock. They have been struggling with the 70% he had previously allotted them, and now it was slashed to a mere ten. She shook with anger, the humiliation burning through her. This was unacceptable. She couldn't take this, and she wouldn't.
"What is that supposed to mean, Father?" Kate demanded.
"Until you work like every responsible parent, you will not get a dime from me," the general said.
"You CAN'T do that, you have more than enough money to be spent yet you chose to be greedy with it." Kate rose from where she sat. She was tired of the general deciding her life, she couldn't take it anymore. The shame, the pain was too much for her to take.
"I already did." The general said turning to walk away before she could respond to him.
Blinded by rage and frustration, Kate grabbed the heavy box of jewels that Nari had given her as a gift and followed after him. She couldn't let him ruin her life with his stringent decisions. Her mind clouded by fury, she acted impulsively.
"Father!" As she drew close to the general, she swung the box and struck him hard in the head. The general collapsed to the floor, unconscious.
For a moment, the room was silent as realization hit her, and then Bean entered the scene with a few maids. They all stared at Kate and the general with wide eyes.
Blood started spilling from the general's head, staining the white floors.
"General!" Bean called, rushing to the old man's side. He didn't know what to do, he had just seen his madam kill her father.
"Just take him to his room. It's obvious he won't make it through the night," Kate yelled at them. "And I don't want this out of this mansion. Anyone who dares me..." Kate paused to stare at them. "Especially you, Bean," she said and started walking away.
Bean and the maids carried the general to his bedroom, their clothes soaked with his blood. Bean had no idea what to do. He knew if he did nothing, his boss might die.
He hurried to his room and picked up his phone. He recalled Noah had been the one to employ him stating that he kept an eye on the family. But since their last fight, Noah had demanded that he stopped calling them for any issue anymore. Especially his wife, because of the poor way her family had treated her.
But there is nothing he can do. Anna is the only person that can save her grandfather right now. Bean stared at the screen, contemplating whom to call. If he said anything, he would pay with his life. Bean was scared, his madam had turned into a completely different person.
He dialed the number of the only person he thought could help... Anna.
He tried to call her but Anna didn't pick up. He dialed her number again and tried calling her over and over again but it only led him to voicemail.
After trying many times, he finally texted Noah. Noah responded and said he would be there soon. Noah had asked about Kate but Bean said she had left for a party with Nari and that the general fell from the stairs.
Kate and Nari soon left the mansion for their event, leaving the old man to die in the mansion. They would settle everything when they're done and maybe accuse the maids. Right now, there was no general to stop them from spending as they liked.
With her father gone, Kate is the next inline to inherit everything since her brother was dead. She smiled.
Bean would never imagine that a once peaceful family would one day turn into something he couldn't explain. Kate and Nari has turned the mansion into a living hell for themselves and the workers.
The only thing both women cared about was themselves and spending money.
After a few minutes Noah arrived with a tall man with a briefcase in his hands. The man Bean assumed to be a doctor. He just hope his master was not dead yet and something can be done about it because two hours has passed since the accident.
His madam and her daughter spent an hour and thirty minutes to dress up and he had to call Noah when they left.
"Welcome master Noah." Bean greeted with a bow.
"What happened to the old fool?" Noah asked looking around the mansion that looked so different from the last time he was here. He knew the biggest mistake the general made was allowing Kate to adopt that menace into their family, but he had kept it to himself. Not all informations deserve to be out, especially to stupid people.
Kate is a blind fool. Her hate for her neice would definitely be the end of her. Noah had known from the beginning, it was the reason he did everything to keep his wife away from them. The woman has successfully used her hands to destroy her family.
When Bean had texted him, he was still in the limo with his wife and Aunt. He didn't want to say anything to both women else the party would be ruined for his mother. The last thing he wanted was see his wife sad because of a man that didn't value her in the first place.
"H... He was involved in an accident master. I think his condition is quite critical." Bean lied protecting his life and that of this madam. He didn't take her threat so likely, he knew she would kill him
"Where is he now?" The other man who came with Noah asked immediately and Bean led him to the General's room.
If it didn't mean so much to his wife, Noah wouldn't have come here to save anyone..
