Nari stepped out of her room hurriedly to tell her mother the information about George and everything that had happened to him. Everything was happening so fast, the only man willing to help skyrocket her career was now being destroyed by Anna Sui.
That stupid girl. Just because she has a little power doesn't mean she could do whatever she wanted. It wasn't news Noah Declan is the most powerful man in the country, even if no one knew Anna was married to him, they knew it's the reason she could come out from any and every situation was because of him.
Anna didn't yield such power on her own. Nari couldn't tell what that man sees in her, even after the accident and her losing her memory, he still loves her more than before. He would go to any extent to protect her.
"Mother." Nari ran into her mother's room to see the woman seating on at her dressing table while her maids arranged and styled her hair. They both had an important event to attend and look their best tonight.
Not only were they impressing the Declan's, they were also impressing all the wealthy families in there too.
"What is it sweetheart?" Kate asked staring at her daughter through he mirror.
"Haven't you seen the news?" Nari asked staring at her mother who had a confused look on her face.
"What is it this time, another news of us going more broke than we already are?" Kate asked nonchalantly, it was clear she was tired of the news already. Everyday it was one thing or the other creating gossip amongst people.
She couldn't begin to count the number of families that have uninvited her to their events because of the news. She knew they would come crawling back, they always do.
"George Borne might be arrested." Nari said shocking her mother.
"What? What happened? What did he do?" Kate turned to her daughter stopping her maids from applying anything on her face. The news was much more important than any make up they wanted to apply.
"Anna has sued George for sexual assault. She demands 100million for damages or he'll be locked behind bars." Nari said rolling her eyes. She was fed up by Anna, if she ever just hated Anna, right now she despised her a lot. She wished she would just disappear from the face of earth.
"That stupid girl." Kate muttered with a frown. George is an industry head that has agreed to help Nari after funding him with hundreds of millions.
"She thinks she can just do anything because she can?" Nari spat frowning too. Here she thought her life was already set, she couldn't even imagine starting all over again.
For the first time, Kate felt jealous of her neice. She had been blinded by her father's hatred for the Declan's that she hadn't noticed the good thing Anna had. She wanted the same life for her daughter too. Nari is supposed to be in that position, to be married to not just any Declan, but the right heir, Noah Declan.
That boy is even more powerful than his father and grandfather ever were. The entertainment industry is a little of what he controls. He controls the entire country and everything in it.
Kate wanted a son in law like that. Not Mack Yong. Mack was nothing to her and her daughter.
"Hurry and prepare for the party Nari. When a door closes another open. I want a word with Mack Yong." Kate said for Nari's eyes to go wide.
"Did you think I wouldn't find out about you two?" Kate asked staring at the girl. "You have to be completely honest with me Nari of you want to stay in this house. The Yong's are destroyed, there's nothing you can do to help them unless Noah Declan himself permits it. Giving that boy money is like pouring rock on a stone." She scolded to see Nari fall to her knees.
"I'm sorry mother. He had threatened to deal with me, I... I didn't know what to do." A drop of tears fell from the corner of her eyes as she stared at her mother.
"I know you wouldn't dare betray me, I'll have to sign a restriction order against him and his family, but after my little deal with him. Give me his number." Kate demanded.
"W... What do you want to tell him mother?" Nari asked staring at the elderly woman. Kate might seem like a dummy but the woman was actually very smart. She took record of everything happening around her making sure there are no mistakes.
"I'll tell you all about when the plan is finally laid, for now, go get dressed and steal the show tonight." Kate said with a smile and her daughter nodded. Nari gave her Mack's phone number before stepping out of the room. She could only hope Mack doesn't spill anything about their plans.
If he doesn't she could still make it work. But what if her mother is right? What if no one can save Mack beside Noah and whatever money they would spend would be a waste?
Once Kate was sure Nari was out of sight, she dialed Mack's number and called him. It rang the first few times with no answer, and after the fifth time, "Who is this?" Came the stern from the other end. Mack had just been working when he heard his phone ring, he had a lot of work to do and didn't have the time to answer any call.
"Is this Mack Yong?" A woman's voice rang through the other end. "Yes." Mack responded.
"I'm Kate Sui, I have a proposal for you."
Kate was just done talking to Mack when the general barged into her room.
"Father." She rose from where she sat surprised her father just walked in like that.
"TWO HINDRED MILLION KATE. TWO HUNDRED MILLION GIVEN TO GEORGE BORNE FOR WHAT?"
