Chapter 162 GOOD TURNED BAD 1

1061words
"Welcome back Anna, I'm so sorry you lost my brothers child during the fall." Everyone turned to look at Beth who had an indifferent look, including Noah who just stepped in. He frowned.

Anna who had been admiring the interior design of the mansion until now turned to look at the girl who spoke. She looked almost her age if not younger or a year older.

"Child? What child?" Anna asked staring at the girl. Beth was about to speak when Evelyn laughed out loud. "What nonsense are you talking about Beth?" Vincent laughed out too trying to diffuse the tension.

"There's no point in trying to..." Beth began, but Evelyn cut her off sharply.

"Elizabeth," Evelyn's voice was firm, her eyes narrowing at her daughter. "Know your boundaries and do not cross them."

"I did nothing," Beth retorted, crossing her arms defiantly.

"What are they talking about aunty?" Anna whispered to her Aunt who gave a reassuring smile. "It's nothing you should be worried about. It seems your sister in law hate you." Grace whispered to her neice and Anna smiled.

"Is that so?" She muttered and stared at Beth. "Thank you everyone for coming here through your busy schedule to welcome me back home." Anna said ignoring the words from Beth.

"I would have loved to stay here and chat with you all, but I feel so dizzy already and I need to rest."

"Take all the time you need dear." Evelyn said to her daughter. If she knew Anna was pregnant, she would have never let her attend such party.

"Let me take you there." Noah suggested and started walking towards her but his wife had other things in mind.

"No, you don't have to worry sugar." His heart skipped at her words. She didn't even know when those words left her lips but it felt right calling him sugar. His reaction already gave out all she wanted to know. He liked the name so she would never stop calling him that.

While coming here, she had decided to divorce Noah and go back to Mack. She wanted to tell him their Marraige was a mistake and that she would forgive Mack for whatever he did to her. But seeing how rich her hubby was...

Noah could be a hundred times richer than the Mack she knows. The Yong had a fair share of riches but they are nothing compared to Noah. If only she could remember how poor they are at the moment. Anna has decided to stay, trusting her old self for marrying this man. The doctor already said she might regain her lost memory or never. She needed Noah's money more than anything, for the lavish lifestyle she wanted.

As Noah heard his wife call him sugar he had wondered if she regained her memory for a few seconds, but his heart shattered again seeing her indifferent expression, he knew she hadn't. Somewhere in that brain of hers, his wife was in there, he'll just have to find her himself.

He had suffered before to win her over and make her fall in love with him, and this time he doesn't mind going through the same torture again if it means she would still be his. Her resentments is hurting, but it's worth the wait.

"I want my sweet sister in-law to escort me to my room. I guess we have a lot to talk about from where we left off." Anna said sweetly.

The elder who was standing next to his daughter in law narrowed his eyes as he stared at his grandson's wife. There was something different about her. A certain boldness he has never known in her and he wondered if the fall had done more damage other than killing his grandchild.

"Of course." Beth said when everyone looked at her like she was some evil spirited old witch. The last thing she wanted was to be seen as a bad person. Especially since she wanted something from her parents and the only way she could get it is by being nice to Anna Sui.

Everyone watched as both ladies climbed the stairs gradually, Anna smiling to Beth who didn't return showing they weren't friends.

As they moved a few steps forward, "Ah." Anna staggered a little scaring everyone on the floor. "Are you okay?" Lionel asked and she nodded quickly. She quickly held Beth's hands for support.

"My bag, it just seems a little bit heavy." She complained. While they were about to climb up the stairs, no one had seen her carry one of the bags the maids had brought out of the car.

"We could ask the maids to help you." Lionel suggested but she shook her head.

"No, I don't trust the maids with anything. Maids are known to steal." She said softly like a cub left under the rain to die. Her words were insults, yet sounded so sympathetic one would ignore the insults.

Everyone in the lounge pitied her, especially after everything she just went through, except one man who could see through her games. Noah chuckled as he watched his wife act. He knew she was a good actress, all these while they were living together, she was yet to show him her true self. Or maybe she just decided to not be a bully.

"I can help you." Lionel was walking towards them when Anna shook her head.

"No father you're too old to carry this bag. But my sister in-law can help me." Her innocent voice rang again, melting their hearts.

"What? We have maids to carry the bag." Beth barked.

"It's alright if you don't want to carry them, I'll manage." Anna tried lifting the bag again but her body trembled.

"Just carry the bag Beth, how much more cruel can you be." Evelyn clicked her tongue eyeing her daughter. She knew she didn't raise a heartless daughter, seeing Beth act this way annoyed her.

Grace who had been watching her neice up to this moment wasn't moved by her act. She has lived with Anna all her life to know she wasn't acting. This is who she is.

Being spoilt from a very young age, she was a big bully. But she changed the older she got. She learnt to be kind to people, but her kindness almost cost her life.
