She has seen him point the gun at her grandfather's head. She would have believed him if his hands wasn't on the trigger.
She knew the general might have provoced him, but that is no reason to try to kill him.
"Why will I settle with a man that almost killed me. He's nothing less than his grandfather." General Sui said provocatively.
Anna knows she had met Vincent, and just like her grandfather she loved him at first sight too. He is the nicest person in the family after Noah and she loved him for his little bald hair.
"They're good people father. The Declan's are actually very nice and whether you like it or not, I'm already married to Noah, it's high time you all accept it." She raised her voice a little bit, not forgetting her manners when it came to speaking to her grandfather.
"Listen to whatever I tell you Anna, I know what I'm saying. It is never my intention to stop your happiness, you know I always want you to be happy."
"Then why are you doing this?" Her voice sounded as almost a whisper but enough for him to hear.
"This is beyond you Anna. The Declan's are not good people and will never be, not after what they did to us." He said firmly.
"The lawyer will be here soon to process the divorce papers and then forward it to him."
"I'm not signing any papers, I'm not divorcing Noah." She would never divorce Noah no matter what. She knew this is all a misunderstanding and can be settled, Noah never Intended to hurt her family when he knows it would hurt her too.
"Anna stop being bullheaded and listen. You'll find someone else, someone deserving."
"No I won't. I love Noah grandpa. I can't love anyone else." She shook her head gently as her eyes moistened. She would have called Noah if her aunties didn't have her phone. They have kept her locked in here for days now like a prisoner.
She isn't a baby anymore for crying out loud, she's a grown woman who can make her own decisions. She's married even.
Just where the hell is Noah when she needs him the most? She knew he said he would give her a few days to rest, but days have past already, it's time he comes to get her. Anna wished there is a means of communicating with him.
"You cannot love our enemies. Even your parents will be disappointed in you." General stated.
"Don't bring mum and dad into this. Why don't you want me married to Noah, why do you hate him so much?"
"I don't hate him. Noah is a fine man, he can protect my granddaughter. You're in safe hands around him, but he's a Declan." General Sui said the 'Declan' as if it's the most disgusting thing to say.
Anna couldn't believe her selfish grandfather, he is forbidding her from marrying Noah because of his issues with the Declan's. How is that any of her business?
"You will sign the divorce papers and send it to them."
"Why do you hate the Declan's, what have they done to you?" She was tired of everyone beating around the bush without stating the actual reason of their sudden decision. Even the Declan's aren't aware of her family's existence so why do they hate them so much?
"Even you would hate them if you knew." The general said casually.
"What the hell did they do and I swear if it's anything stupid grandfather." Anna didn't care anymore as she spoke. She was tired of being controlled and told what to do her whole life. Maybe if she had made decisions for herself from the beginning, she would never have met Mack Yong.
"They killed you parents silly child. The Declan's stole your parents away from you! He yelled.
"That's a very strong accusations to be laying grandfather."
"What accusations Annabelle Wallis Sui!!! He yelled. "That you're married into the same family that killed your parents?" General Sui yelled to see tears dropping from his granddaughter's eyes.
"... No... It can't be..." Anna whispered softly. Elder Vincent didn't look like a person that could kill anyone.
Noah had mentioned his family were fucked up and have done countless bad things in the past which is the reason he stayed away from them. Is he aware that they killed her parents and almost killed her too?
A few years of her life was cut short because she was in a coma.
"And let it be known that your very husband is aware of this Anna. He threatened us not to say a word to you, that's the reason he had pointed a gun to my head." The general continued.
Anna didn't stop out of her room all day after her grandfather's words. She has spent all of her life praying and cursing the people that killed her parents yet she's married to them. To even think Noah knew about it yet have decided to keep it a secret from her.
Now she knows why her family hated him and his family. She had been stupid to think they could settle whatever differences they have but she had been stupid.
She's stupid for even judging them.
A small knock was heard by her door and she quickly wiped her swollen eyes. It's not like it would do anything to hide her swollen eyes. Anna sniffled and walked towards the door, when she opened it.
"Anna dear, the lawyer is here for the divorce papers. He needs you to tell him what to write and what not to." Grace said quietly feeling terrible for her neice.
"I'll be there shortly." Anna said hesitantly closing the door behind her.
