"What are you talking about Hannah?" Lionel asked staring at the proud woman.
"Noah, your mother was supposed to tell you, about your planned marriage with my daughter Cara. It is long overdue. We do not want any more distractions and confusion." Hannah stated staring mostly at Anna who chewed her food calmly. She couldn't wait for Noah to announce she was already his wife to put this rude in her place.
Out of all the times Anna had been proud to call Noah her husband, she had never been prouder.
"Employees should stay in their places." Hanna stared at Anna who continued chewing her bread.
"I'm not getting married to her," Noah said coldly.
"Noah," Cara called.
"Don't tell me you want to stay single for the rest of your life." Evelyn cut in. "Hannah has a point. Cara seems like the only person fit to be your wife, she has been with the family long enough. It's time she's fully a part of us." Evelyn suggested to her sweet son.
She has always wanted this since Hannah told her about it. The family had welcomed Cara in hopes of marrying their son.
Even if Noah was a stubborn man, she still hoped her son would listen to her just this once. He wasn't getting younger and for a man of his status, he's meant to be married now. Noah had everything any man could ask for. He's the most powerful man in the city, he's a business tycoon, a billionaire. What else does he want?
"How can you ask a married man to get married again? That is disrespectful to my wife." Evelyn's narrowed eyes met his and then she suddenly smiled.
"You and Cara already got married secretly and you're hiding it? How silly of you." Evelyn laughed, but she was the only one who did. Cara had lost all colors from her face because she knew she wasn't married to Noah.
It couldn't be that Noah is married to this girl here, could it?
"She's not my wife." Evelyn's laugh fell as she stared at her son.
"What are you talking about Noah?"
"Yes, what are you saying, if you're not married to Cara who else are you married to?"
"Anna. She's my wife." Anna who had been eating until now suddenly felt her cheek turn warm at the announcement. The moment she had long waited for was here and she hoped Evelyn wouldn't reject or hate her.
"It's high time everyone here respects and treats her the same way you treat me."
"No," Beth said.
"This is unacceptable." Hannah smacked the table and Cara who sat next to Noah stared at him in disbelief. She couldn't believe her ears, her worst fear was right before her.
She has done everything for this man to love her, yet in the end he chose this shameless whoring model over her.
She wasn't wrong after all. Anna has succeeded in stealing Noah from her, Noah is hers alone. She had suspected this but everyone thought she was overthinking, now Noah is married to this bitch. Cara was yet to process everything going on.
What will become of her now? She had spent all of her life chasing after this man only for him to be married to another woman.
"I will not let you disrespect my family like this. You dare chose a shameless whore over my daughter, after everything she's done for you." She kept spiraling.
Janjan who was seated next to Chalamet signaled her best friend and they smiled at each other.
"Evelyn this is not what we agreed," Hannah called but Evelyn said nothing to her. She was also disappointed at Noah's attitude. She felt like he could have told her beforehand rather than make her seem like a fool this morning.
It seems she and Beth are the only ones who didn't know about Noah's marriage be a use Lionel and Vincent seemed happy about it.
"I'm so sorry Hannah that things didn't go as planned," Lionel said.
"Oh save it, we don't need your apologies." She yelled.
"You'll pay for this. You all will pay dearly for this humiliation." Hannah forced her daughter up and dragged her out of the dining room.
"Who even wants to be a part of this family anyway." The door closed.
"Marin, bring a glass of champagne," Lionel told the butler who had been standing in a corner until now. "Welcome to the family Anna." He said with a smile.
"Thank you, sir."
"Don't call him that, he's your father and Evelyn is your mother too. You should address them as father and mother." Vincent said holding his daughter-in-law's hands and Anna smiled at him.
Beth who still couldn't believe what was happening rose from where she sat and walked away.
"He's right Anna, welcome to the family." Evelyn smiled.
"Yes sister-in-law, welcome to the family," Chalamet said from where he sat and Anna smiled at him. She saw him wrap his arms around Janjan's shoulder with narrowed eyes.
"This information turned out more peaceful than I imagined.
"What are you talking about?" Vincent who was busy adding more vegetables to his daughter-in-law's plate asked eyeing the young man who sat across him.
"I don't know, I expected more blood..." He laughed.
"We're civilized people Chalamet, not scavengers." Lionel scolded with a warning glare which only made Chalamet smile broaden.
"I and my wife will be staying for a few days to finalize the marriage process with both families before leaving." Noah suddenly said. His words made Anna's heart skip. He had been more bold than she thought to announce their marriage so fast.
"Have you also informed her family about this?" Evelyn asked her son to see him nod. She had been stupid to think she could make decisions for Noah, but as always he did things in his time.
