Chapter 84 A SLAP SO SWEET 1

930words
Cara had been so upset about Anna interrupting her speech till she saw the gift the girl had in her hands. She scoffed loudly at it, attracting the attention of a few people in there. Anna had embarrassed her in the past, it was now her turn to do the same to her.

"What is this Miss Sui?" She cackled.

"The biggest model in the country, and all you can afford is a little flower?" She mocked placing her hands around her chest and little murmurs began in the hall. The people who didn't care about Anna's identity before now turned to look at her. It is true, it is Anna Sui.

But what's happening? Why the noise? Whispers started and Cara thought everyone was on her side and she continued talking.

"How dare you try to embarrass Mother, does she look this cheap to you? Who even invited you here where you clearly don't belong?" Cara asked clenching her hands into a fist. She has never despised anyone like the way she does to Anna. She hated this girl for stealing Noah away from her.

Anna ground her teeth from the embarrassment she was about to face. She had no idea this nameless girl was somehow related to Noah and his family, if she knew she wouldn't have listened to Noah. She would have gotten the lady something tangible, something more presentable.

"There's no need to make a fuss about it Cara, the flower is beautiful." Evelyn cut in immediately as she stretched her hands and received her gift. She smelled the flower, it was exactly what she loved. She had expected this wonderful gift from Noah, but he didn't give it to her.

Her love for flowers is one of the secrets Evelyn never shared with anyone except her son since he always got them for her. She didn't care if they were just a dollar or a few tens of dollars or if they were plugged by the roadside for free, to her, they were worth more than the diamond jewels she had.

"It's beautiful, thank you." She said to Anna and she smiled.

Everyone was astonished at how the proud and arrogant Evelyn Declan would receive such gifts. She was known for wearing the most expensive gifts at the highest prices. It is on opus cause she's the richest woman in the country, yet she loved a mere flower gifted to her.

Evelyn could buy a billion flowers if she wanted to, so why did she even accept the flowers?

"I'm glad you loved it," Anna said smiling at Noah who smiled back at her. Cara who saw this clenched her hands into a fist in anger to the point her fingers dug into her nails drawing out blood from her hands.

"Mother I can't believe you would accept this from this lowlife. You're not welcome here Anna Sui or whatever you call yourself." Cara barked.

"You shouldn't always look at the gift given dear, you should look at the giver and the intentions they have." A woman among the few who have been here from the beginning said and others backed her up.

"Yes, that's true."

"What are you saying, do you think this woman here has pure intentions for the Declan?" Cara asked the woman. "The only thing women like her are known for is sleeping around with rich men to afford their fake lifestyle." A slap echoed across the room and gasp left one mouth to another. Cara held her cheek in disbelief.

"I will not have you insult me and spread lies about me in my presence," Anna said staring at the girl. She knew how to deal with people like this, especially since Noah had promised her there was no camera anywhere and no one would dare try to record her.

Anna wasn't always a quiet and down-to-earth kind of girl. She grew up with the craziest aunties that are never afraid of putting people in their places and she had learned that. But she decided to change because of her life of work. She knew she had to be humble and take as much bullying and insult as she could to gain sympathy in the eyes of the public.

But not tonight. Tonight there were no public eyes, no paparazzi, no reporters, nothing. For once in her life she could do what she wanted and be herself.

Noah who has never seen this side of her was astonished by his wife's sudden attitude. He couldn't be more proud of her. He knew she had a fierce side and the calmness she always portrays was just a facade.

"How dare you slap me?" Cara growled.

"Yes, how dare you slap her." Beth defended her best friend. Anna has insulted her friend once before, but not again, not in their mansion. She didn't care if she came with Noah, she would put this bitch in her place.

"How dare you raise your filthy hands on my daughter?" Hannah came to her daughter's defense. She had seen Cara speak to Anna from afar and she decided to stop her until she saw Anna slap her daughter.

"Hannah your daughter is at fault this time." A woman there said to Hannah who received a glare in return and she went ahead to hide at the back of the other women gathered around.

Even if she had spoken, one thing she didn't want was to be in the bad book of Hannah, the woman could ruin you, especially since she's well acquainted with the Declan's.
