"How long did you think you could run away from me?" Chalamet asked the girl next to him. Janjan didn't know another means of escaping from this man. She had no idea she would find him at this party, at a place like this. She stared at Anna, but Anna was too busy talking and dancing with Elder Vincent.
"I don't know who you are or what you're talking about Mr." She said not daring to meet his gaze.
"So why did you run away earlier?" Chalamet asked as he narrowed his eyes at the girl. Janjan bit her lower lips praying for a miracle. She prayed to God for the first time in years to help her and save her from the hands of this man.
'Send anybody, even if it's the annoying Paul.' she didn't mind. She could endure his bullying and running mouth for as long as he wanted if he would save her.
"I... I went to get flowers for my miss until I saw that you started stalking me." That was a reasonable reason. She wouldn't let this strange man know who she was.
Before she became friends with Anna, Janjan had other friends, and just like Anna, they had betrayed her. They had taken her to a club, and being new to the experience, she drank a lot and got drunk.
Chalamet who was at the same club with his friends at the time had noticed everything. He decided to be the knight in shiny armor to save the damsel in distress. But all he got in return was a heavy punch from the girl.
Chalamet was always one to have fun and mind his business, but that night he had no idea why he foolishly decided to save this ungrateful brat. And since then, he has been looking for her.
When Janjan woke up the next morning, she discovered she was in a man's bed. Luckily he did nothing to her. Janjan was still trying to understand what was happening when she saw Chalamet walk into the room with a coffee in his hands. Out of fear, she got up immediately and punched him in the face, before exiting his mansion.
She had told no one about the incident cause she never thought she would see him again, but seeing him now... Janjan bit her cheek.
"Excuse me, sir, I have to go now." She said and was about to walk away when he dragged her back.
"Why don't I believe you?" She heard him ask and gulped.
"Come with me." Chalamet dragged Janjan out of the ballroom. Even if Janjan fought against his hold, he didn't let her go as he pulled her through the almost empty hall. As both people left the ballroom, shortly after, Paul stepped into the ballroom with the flower his master had asked him to get.
He had searched everywhere for Janjan but he just couldn't find her. Maybe if he wasn't so busy serving Noah he would have found her. He didn't know whether to tell Anna so that they could both look for the girl. He just hopes she isn't in trouble.
Meanwhile, as Janjan tried to free herself from Chalamet, Cara and her best friend Beth walked from where they stood to where Noah was now seated. Next to his mother and father.
"Mother," Cara called her stepmother and Evelyn turned to look at the girl with the sweetest smile on her lips.
"Yes, my dear."
"I was thinking..."
"Happy birthday Mrs Evelyn," Anna said with a smile and Cara felt like she would crush the girl with her bare hands. How dare she, how dare a nobody try to interrupt her speech. Anna had once again ruined her only chance to dance and be close to Noah.
Beth eyed Anna from where she stood. If she had the power, she would have chased her from the party, but she's Noah's guest she didn't want trouble from her brother. The last time she did something to him, Noah troubled her for a while week.
Anna had been dancing and chatting with Elder Vincent until Paul told her it was time to give Noah's mother the gift they planned. She suddenly turned so nervous, scared of facing her mother-in-law. The fear of being rejected almost made Anna want to pass out. Anna took the flower from Paul with shaky hands.
She has been preparing for this moment since Noah informed her about the birthday party, but nothing prepared her for it. She placed her hands on her beating heart and stared at Evelyn only to see Noah staring back at her. He didn't move from where he sat, he only watched her. He had promised to accompany her. She ground her teeth at his betrayal.
She had no decent gift in her hands. when everyone gave Evelyn priceless jewels and other things, she had a flower in her hands. A stupid flower that anyone can have.
Isn't it better she came with nothing than to ruin her first impression before her mother-in-law?
"Thank you." Evelyn smiled like she had done with everyone.
"This is for you." As Anna presented the gift to her mother-in-law. A loud scoff was heard immediately.
