"Don't move," the man warned, his voice cold and calculated.
Eki and Dapo looked at each other with fear in their eyes. It was a time when life or death was very close - they needed to choose if they wanted to fight for living or let death come closer.
In a flash, Eki's body got full of energy as she moved toward the man. She tried to kick his legs, wishing he would let go of any weapon he was holding tight. The man took a step back but did not fall over.
Dapo, seeing his chance, jumped at the man with arms spread wide. They grabbed each other and fell into furniture, making things fly all around the room.
The fight becomes more fierce. The sounds of battle filled the room with grunts from both fighters and things falling made big noises too. Eki is having much difficulty escaping this man who holds her very tight; many thoughts rush into her mind. She must find a weapon - something that will help them gain the upper hand quickly now in this situation.
She sees a vase nearby and quickly grabs it. She swung the vase to his head. The vase breaks on his face, making him pull back in shock.
Using the loud noise for distraction, Dapo took a chance to grab his firearm. He managed to seize the gun and aimed it towards him. The man turned his head, eyes big and full of anger, face showing surprise mixed with rage.
"You're finished," Dapo said, his voice trembling slightly.
The man walked closer, but Dapo was prepared. He shot one warning bullet that struck the wall right behind this person. The guy stopped suddenly, his eyes growing big in fright.
"Don't test me," Dapo warned, his voice filled with determination.
The man moved back, lifting his hands like he was ready to surrender. Eki and Dapo exchanged glances of relief—they managed this situation for now, but the danger still exists.
They understood clearly that remaining in the safe house could not be done. The Thorne people would return, and this time they came ready for them. They must hide beneath, vanishing completely.
They took some belongings, looking sad because they understood they were being left behind. They emptied the apartment building and looked back one last time, marking an end to one part of their life and the start of another.
They called for a taxi, not saying where they came from. They seem like running away, maybe even hiding from a strong enemy. Though they appeared strong and fearless combatants who were prepared for battle too.
As the taxi drove, Eki watched out of the window at the city. It was a place they knew well but still felt strange - a home where dangers were close by, feeling unknown and alone in their hometown with threats around: familiar but also unfamiliar ground for them.
However, they were right. They had the truth, and they had each other. They knew this was a powerful weapon – therefore, they were not defeated.
In the back seat of a taxi, Eki and Dapo were thinking deeply. They had just escaped death, but this did not mean they were completely safe from danger now. The Thorne group was still present; they wanted to end everything.
They talk about plans for what to do next, but they speak very softly. They need to find a secret place where they can meet and decide on the following steps. They also discussed how to show Thorne's assembly and prepare them for police action.
"We have to phone Ayo," Dapo stated firmly. "She will know what to do."
Eki agreed, yes, it was true that Ayo remained their only reliable friend in this fight and now she has become very important. They all take out their phones, calling her number with hearts beating strongly.
Ayo picked up the phone after a few rings. Her voice sounded worried, and she asked, "Are you okay?" Her voice was slightly trembling.
"We're alive," Eki replied, her voice filled with relief. "We need your help."
"Say," Ayo says, and then I hear their tale about encountering Thorne's group. Now, on the other side of the line, there is a silence that lasts for a while.
"I'll meet you at the old warehouse," she finally said. "We need to talk."
Eki and Dapo looked at each other. This old warehouse may not be the best place for a meeting, but it is all we could find.
When Eki and Dapo reach the warehouse by taxi, they start to feel afraid. They remember this place from before because bad things happened here, but now they have no other option.
They saw Ayo, standing in the soft light. She appeared exhausted, but her eyes had a look of determination.
She says, "I do some research. I think I will find out who is behind all these events."
Eki and Dapo felt the same excitement. You could see because both leaned forward; they had been looking for answers and now Ayo came to give help.
"They have power," she said quietly. "Many actions they control, like taking artwork and handling drug trade." Thorne is just one small part of what they do."
Eki and Dapo exchanged glances, both looking surprised. They did not know about these dangers; it is happening right at this moment. The person they encounter has much strength, and now they are in a difficult situation.
"We have to be careful," Ayo warned. "They're watching us."
During their conversation, a strange noise happened. It was like a tiny click from outside the warehouse. They exchanged concerned looks. Someone was approaching.
There was no wait, and the door opened fast. Some men with guns stood in front, their faces hidden by masks as they looked very serious with sharp eyes checking everything around them.
"You're coming with us," one of the men said, his voice low and menacing.
Eki, Dapo, and Ayo exchanged terrified glances. They were trapped.
