Chapter 113: A Dangerous Alliance

Eki and the woman watched as Thorne stepped out of the car with cold determination, his face hidden. Their hearts begin to beat fast in their chests when they understand that they are trapped. There was no possibility of escape or finding a place to hide.

"Ah, ah, ah," Thorne said. His voice echoed softly in the stillness around him. "What do we see?"

Eki placed his hand on the woman's with more strength. This showed they faced a tough situation, but she was not ready to give up yet.

"You won't get away with this," Eki managed to say, her voice trembling slightly.

Thorne's laughter had no amusement in it. "We will know," he said. "First, I have a little surprise for you."

While he was talking, two men came out of the car. They were big and strong, their faces hidden in shadow. Eki and the woman exchanged glances filled with fear. This task was for professionals, and they were not prepared to handle it.

"Take them," Thorne ordered.

The two men walked towards them with much confidence. Eki and the woman stepped back, showing how frightened they felt. They were cornered; there was no way for them to run away.

But Eki did not wish to give up without making a big effort. She put her hand into the pocket and pulled out a small, sharp object. It was a letter opener, similar to the one she used for defending herself against the curator.

She made the letter opener fly, throwing it very quickly at one of them. It struck his shoulder precisely; he screamed and dropped to his knees as well.

The chance let Eki and the lady escape. They ran, their hearts beating fast in their chests. They moved fast through little ways, taking deep breaths.

They continued running until they felt it was safe and believed no one was following them anymore. They stopped in a deserted alley, their bodies hurting from the intense run.

"We need to find a safe place," Eki said with a strong voice. "And we should tell the police."

The woman's face became very pale, she nodded and said: "I know a place. Maybe not safe, but it's somewhere."

When they go to the safe house, they talk about what can be their next step. They want a plan for showing how Thorne and his network did wrong things so that justice can happen. Yet, they must also ensure their safety and that of the priceless objects.

The way to the safe house had many risks. They needed to be very careful because Thorne's men were always watching for them. When they reach the house, they feel very tired and scared. But their wish is strong to continue moving forward.

The safe house was a very small apartment, hard to see in a quiet neighbourhood. It gave them brief protection - somewhere they could meet and decide on the next moves. When they came to a new place, very soon it was clear their lives changed forever. Before, living a normal life but now in big danger and challenges every day. They must fight hard just to survive each moment.

When they were almost ready to take a rest, their mobile phones suddenly began ringing. Each phone showed an unknown number on the display. They exchange looks full of concern. Who could be calling them now?

Eki was trembling as she picked up the phone. She softly said, "Hello?"

There was a quiet pause, then a strong and menacing voice said, "We know where you are."

Eki experienced fear as she comprehended that the nightmare was real. They were hunted, and their sanctuary was compromised.
