Chapter 10

Jack and I locked eyes across the shrinking distance between us.

Standing so close our breaths mingled, I couldn't help noticing the defined muscles visible through his low-cut v-neck.

Jack's lips curved into a knowing smile. He tugged his collar lower, his perfect mouth silently forming words.

But what was he trying to tell me?

I swallowed hard, the air between us suddenly thick and hot, my cheeks burning.

Abruptly, someone yanked me backward.

I stumbled, caught off-balance.

"Apologize. Now."

I glared at Joel's stern face, anger bubbling up inside me.

Before I could speak, he flagged down a waiter and thrust an expensive bottle of wine into my hands.

"Jack loves this vintage. I was saving it for myself..."

I barely heard the rest of his words.

Instead, I found myself staring at the bottle, sneaking glances at Jack who had taken a seat.

He likes this wine?
