I took a deep breath and stayed quiet, head down as I searched my pocket for a familiar comfort.
Before I could find it, a familiar voice cut through the tension.
"Miss Sullivan, is your head full of water? Seems it's leaking straight from your brain to your eyes!"
Jack Johnson's comment triggered an explosion of laughter around us.
"Damn! Even Jack's taking shots at her now!"
Joel snickered, wrapping his arm around his recently returned first love.
"Jack, you're too much."
But something in Jack's tone caught my attention.
As I puzzled over it, my phone buzzed in my hand.
I glanced down to see a friend request notification I hadn't noticed before.
"Sorry, sorry, sis! My big mouth got away from me, but I couldn't stand it anymore.
"Seriously, why waste tears on that ungrateful jerk? There are better men out there!"
At this moment, I fell silent.
