My opponent was a battle-hardened Rogue. I didn't stand a chance.
Just as I was about to get tackled—
A black blur dropped from above.
Kael.
Already half-shifted, eyes blazing gold, fangs fully extended.
One Growl from him and the Rogue immediately submitted—pure Alpha dominance.
The judge looked stunned: "This..."
"A Claimed Alpha has the right to protect his Omega." Kael stated matter-of-factly. "That's not against the rules, is it?"
The judge hesitated: "Not... technically against the rules. Pass."
I stumbled out of the arena. Kael, already back in human form, was waiting.
"Thanks."
"Say 'thanks' one more time and I really will bite you." Kael playfully lunged at my neck.
I quickly covered my neck: "Okay, okay! I take it back!"
Kael laughed and pulled my hand to his face:
"Your hands are like ice. I told you to dress warmer."
His warmth spread from my palm through my entire body.
My heart felt just as warm.
