The exams began.
First round was theory. Not too difficult.
Second round was combat—fight a Rogue (feral wolf) in a sealed arena.
I drew a speed-type grey wolf that chased me around the entire damn arena.
I finally managed to trap it with a silver net, completely drained.
The judge announced I'd passed. I staggered out of the arena.
Kael was waiting outside.
He saw my pale face and immediately strode over.
"Cold?"
I nodded. London winter in an outdoor arena—pure torture.
Without hesitation, Kael stripped off his jacket and wrapped it around my shoulders.
Alpha body heat radiated from the fabric. It felt so good I nearly melted.
"Better?" He looked down at me, concern evident in his eyes.
I nodded, feeling my cheeks warm.
"Idiot." Kael sighed. "It's freezing out here and you didn't dress properly."
"I did dress warm." I stubbornly lifted the hem of my athletic shirt. "See? Heat packs."
Kael froze. His gaze dropped to my exposed midriff.
Then his face turned bright red.
Even the tips of his ears burned crimson.
"You..." he stammered. "Who told you to lift your shirt in public?!"
"But you said I wasn't dressed warmly enough—"
Kael turned away, a low Growl rumbling in his throat—not from anger this time. Embarrassment?
I bit back a laugh.
This big bad wolf. Absolutely adorable.
