Chapter 186 FAKE PAPERS

1482words
ANDREW POV:

"Here," Lillian places a thin file in front of me at the table and I quickly pick it up and then start scanning each paper carefully with narrowed eyes.

After I feel assured that this will work, I close the file and then thank Lillian wholeheartedly.

"Thank you very much, Lillian. These are very genuine." I tell her and then rise up from my seat to leave quickly when suddenly Lillian holds my arm impassively.

"Andrew, sit down for a while." She requests softly and sighs as I sit back in my place.

"How are you?" Lillian looked at me with worried eyes and questions.

"I am fine," I answer while shrugging my shoulders. It's been a while since I don't feel fine at all and her question somehow bothers my mind.

"No, you're not." She states and I groan unhappily, "My wife is on death bed, and my son is too battling for his life, what do you want me to say I am in an awful state at the moment." I snapped at her.

"I will respect your truth more than your made-up lies." She says calmly instead of getting furious with me.

"Lillian," I take a deep breath, I know she cares for me a lot, she has always treated me as her little brother even though we are not blood-related at all.

"I will get better, I am sure." I hold her hand and she gives me a warm smile.

"I just hope whatever it is in your mind. It will bring good fortune for both of you in the future."

"At least it will keep Tessa bound to me," I tell her as I look down at the file.

"So, how's your son? Daddy of two…" Lillian asks with a little tease in her voice and my lips twitch when I remember the two little creatures that Tessa has given to me.

I never knew that one day I would find both of them so adorable.

I never felt attached to them but now as I have started spending my time with them I have realized how much I am attached to them.

The younger one listens to me a lot, which makes me feel like a special person to him while the older one keeps sleeping all the time. Sleepyhead is just like his mother.

I start telling Lillian about my sons and she feels quite excited after listening to me while I am overwhelmed and joyful after talking about them.

I wish I would be able to keep them both near to their mother too.

After I leave Lillian, I see the sky has turned dark and wonder if Tessa has had her dinner. Since she has woken up, I haven't given her any visit but I am in touch with the nurse, she keeps informing me about Tessa's health, and still, she isn't able to talk.

But, I know deep inside she is dying to see her child.

At night, I secretly enter Ann's room where she has been staying in the hospital since the boys were born.

The younger one is getting sicker day by day, he was born with a weak heart and there is also a little hole in his heart that makes his condition worse.

Ann is staying with him 24/7 and I am sure she won't be coming back to her room to sleep at any time.

Quickly, I change the file with mine and then burn the papers that Ann had prepared for me so that there would be no proof left.

One Task Done, now time for another.

I need Tessa's signature, but how? She's still too weak, perhaps I need to wait.

****

"Enough is enough, Andrew. I want her signature now." Ann burst out furiously while throwing the file at the table which dropped with a loud thud.

THUD

It's been twenty days since Tessa opened her eyes and Ann is getting impatient day by day because of her presence in the hospital. She wants her to leave in an instant as she is afraid of her effect on me.

Sigh…

It's not an effect but her love for me and my love for her, why can't Ann see this?

"I will bring her signature, don't worry." I console Ann with a fake smile because I know fighting won't bring anything good to me and Tessa.

And also, these papers are not harmful at all. So, why can't I bring her signature to her?

I pick the papers calmly making Ann wholly stunned and my lips lift up in a smirk, she would never know what I had actually done.

The papers she is thinking of as legal divorce papers, I have changed them with a fake one so now no matter what Tessa would remain as my legal wife forever.

I stride toward Tessa's ward, my heart starts to beat faster in anxiety. It's been many days since I haven't seen her. How am I supposed to face her? And then ask for her signature.

Would she sign obediently or will she make a fuss out of it?

I am hell nervous when I reach her door and then my pupils widen when I see the chaos in the ward. Three nurses hold Tessa and she is struggling immensely in their grip.

She looks pathetic, and weak, but I could see that she has not given up.

F**k, this woman is so stubborn.

"STOP."

I growl and instantly everyone in the room stops their movement and all eyes fall on me.

"Leave everyone," I command and everyone leaves the room hurriedly. My eyes are on Tessa's face but I am not able to look into her eyes, not when I know how much hate she is carrying in her eyes for me at the moment.

"My child," She breathes, her voice deeply hoarse from the struggling before.

"Sign these." I placed the file of divorce paper beside her.

"Mona... You still love her, don't you? You thought she left you because of me.

Chchchch... No Andrew, she left you because you are a f**king coward who could never take the right side...."

She says with painful dimples and I flinch not from the grief in her voice but because the words that she has said are all true.

I am not weak but a cowardly person.

"So you remember everything... This is good, now sign the papers and get the hell out of here and my life." I say disheartened, if it's like this between us then let it be.

After all, this is not the time when I would be explaining her things. Let her live in her trance until I will find a good opportunity to explain all the things to her, and when we are alone away from each other's gaze.

"I won't... First, let me see my child... I want my child back..." She whimpers in pain and my heart tightens.

I really want to hug her and comfort her, our sons are doing great. Doctors are trying their best, the little one will get better soon, Tessy.

But all the words remain at the tip of my tongue with a bitter heart.

"If you want to see our son, then sign the papers and I will take you to him." I offer, I know she is greedy for her child and definitely, she will agree to sign.

"A son? I gave birth to a boy?" She asks, her eyes twinkling with joy and I nod my head in response.

Not one, Tessy, but two you are now the mother of two sons.

After the revelation, her temper changes immediately and she picks up the papers and signs them swiftly.

I feel disappointed as she didn't even pause for a second before ending our relationship just like that. The child is always her priority but more than her love for me.

"Now, take me to my son," She demands and with an aching heart, I nod my head.

I brought a wheelchair for her, as I know she won't be able to walk that much. She sits obediently, her limbs are weak, her face pale, and her hair looks like a complete mess.

My heart clenches painfully when I notice all the flaws that she has got because of me.

I push her wheelchair taking her to the NICU, she sits up looking eagerly at the doors. Her excitement is overwhelming.

I wonder how she reacts when I reveal the existence of our second son to her, how would she react when she looks at his blue eyes exactly like hers. And when she meets the sleepyhead that looks like me.

I unknowingly curve my lips on her possible positive reaction and intend to open the NICU door when a shrilling voice stops me from doing so.
