Chapter 121

This is harder than we expected. Gaining Freeda's trust is not an easy thing to do. I thought it'd be easier now that Damon mentioned her true parsen, Josh. I can't be mistaken. My two eyes saw how she flinched slightly after hearing the name is Josh. But it looks like it made her silence worse. What do we do now?
"Freeda will never speak to us," I said hopelessly. He glanced up to me. We've been trying to speak to the eagle stalling in front of us.
Damon flashes a sweet smile on his lips. "Let's not force her. Freeda's defense mechanism is to hide behind the forms she's imitating. She must have been shocked after being caught," he said patiently. I heaved a deep sigh while staring at the bird in the cage.
"Well, should we wrap this up?" I asked. He landed his eyes back to Freeda and nodded. "But don't you think we should free her?" I looked at her worriedly.
She might be on her bird form, but that doesn't change the fact that she's a Mythos and she'll feel claustrophobic in that cage. My eyes grew big when Freeda turns her head at me. I smiled at her despite the hesitation at the back of my mind. I can still recall how she gave me the creeps on our Batailen. She's a real strong Mythos.
I opened the cage to free her. She didn't fly away and just leave the metal cage. I was about to back away when I suddenly remember the guy who'd be so worried of her right now.
"You must missed him already," I stated. Damon glanced at me. I'm just staring at Freeda directly on the eyes. She didn't respond like what she's been doing, but I won't stop. I think I know how to make her speak now. "Do you find our relationship strange? A dragonian and a chosen. Isn't that just a little weird?" I chuckled softly when Damon grabs my hand.
"I'm trying to reverse psychology her," I said in my mind while looking at him. He furrowed his brows. I rolled my eyes. He must not know that. "It's to make her speak the truth. So, stop acting weird there and just watch me." I winked at him and stare at Freeda again.
"How is it to have a parsen from a different race?" I asked bluntly. Her eyes twitched.
I remember Steve telling me that she's head to heals over her, but she keeps on avoiding him. A spy like her who's pretending to be someone's parsen will try her very best to gain his main target's trust, but she's doing the opposite. Why? Because she can never deny the fact that the genuine care and love of Steve for her is affecting her differently.
Well, chosens are known from being loyal and sweet. I don't know how and why she ended up being in here yet, but I think Josh is not the guy for her. I'm not certain.
My eyes brows arched when she suddenly turned herself into her true form. Her burning eyes greeted me. Damon tried to put me behind his back, but I stopped him.
"It's working," I whispered in my mind.
Damon squeezed my arm and stay beside me. I looked at the frantic woman in front of me. She looks like she's about to explode from what I said.
"Don't you say his name!" she said crazily and throw a fit. I watched her turn God Hlaford's office upside down. The way she's reacting is a sign that I'm doing a really good job in provoking her.
"What name? Steve?" I asked sarcastically. She glared at me using her red eyes. "Does his name affect you that much? I haven't say anything yet, but you look like you're about to explode already. Don't you feel sorry? His love for you is pure and genuine. But yours is covered in lies and fakery. How will you make it up to him?" I provoked.
She covered her ears desperately.
"I DON'T CARE ABOUT HIM. HE'S NOT MY PARSEN! I AM NOT A CHOSEN! I AM A MYTHOS!" she screamed to us. But it's more like she's trying to make herself believe that she doesn't love him.
Damon was about to block himself to protect me from Freeda, but I stopped him for the second time around.
"You don't have to be a chosen to love a chosen. You don't have to be in the same race to love each other. You don't have to be called parsens by findan fairies to be real parsens. Love has no bounds, Freeda." I gave her a warm smile, but she glared at me. I looked at Damon. He's glaring at Freeda too. He's going to scare her off for Gaviel's sake!
I was about to console her when she suddenly falls down on the ground and started crying her out. She cupped her face and cried. I stared at her. The amount of tears she's releasing is the evidence of the heaviness in her heart that she's been carrying.
My heart clenched. It's hard for me to see a strong lady like me falling apart because of love.
"I—I can't tell him the truth. I—I'm a failure. I hurt the only guy that made me feel important. H—He can never forgive me. I—I'm sorry!" she cried. I let her cry her heart on the cold floor. Damon glanced at me. He looks surprised by her sudden actions.
I understand her. She's confused.
I heaved a deep sigh as I start to take small steps towards her. My heart feels like it's being squeezed by someone. Her sobs give me pain. This view of her hurts me so much.
I crouched to pat her back softly. "I—It's okay. You don't have to hide those pain anymore. We're willing to help you. You can trust us," I whispered in her ears. She covered her face with her hands and cried. "Keeping it all to yourself will only make you feel heavy and alone. You're not alone, Freeda. You have us. I'll be your friend."
Damon watched us on the floor. I smiled when he landed his eyes on me. This is not something he'll understand. Comforting someone who's done something so wrong to everyone? Not everyone's favorite thing to do.
"I—I'm sorry, Josh! Your pack rejected me. I am not a wolf like you. I can only disguise as one, but I will never be one. You were arranged to a much stronger and powerful female wolf already. Who am I to force myself to you longer?" she speaks to us like we're Josh. I didn't say anything and just listen to her vent. My hand didn't forget a single tap on her back.
"I wanted to forget you that's why I decided to join the golden mission. Putting dirt on the findan pot and manipulating the result was never an easy thing to do. That's why when I succeeded, I couldn't leave it to someone else," she added.
I smiled in a comforting manner when she lifted her head to look at me. The redness of her eyes made my heart clenched. Her watered eyes met mine. "But I met Steve. He's the kind of parsen I wanted you to be. Nothing was stopping him from loving me. His real parsen died from natural death in the outside world. Nothing was holding me back anymore," she said those with bright crying eyes. I can sense the happiness in her voice.
"I wanted to be his parsen and forget everything. Even the place where I truly belong and you. I wanted to forget about you, Josh. I can't! I can't!" she cried again. I pulled her head to my shoulder. She's shaking uncontrollably because of her sobbing.
"It's okay, Freeda. We can sort things out. Everything will be okay," I comforted.
"I am not good enough. Steve will never forgive me. Josh will forever loath me. I am a mess, Golden. How will I live this miserable life now? All I wanted was someone to stay
with me. Why do I have to suffer so much?"
