Golden's POV

It was noon when we decided to go back to out bedchamber and give ourselves a rest. This is exactly what I've been wanting to do since we got back here in Vortaxia.

"Do you expect us to go and continue with the mission?" I asked in an exhausted voice. Thinking about it tires me already.

He stopped on taking out the stuffs inside our bag. "What do you mean?" he replied. I turned my body to look at him.

Damon is now wearing his vortan clothes. How can he look good in both human and vortan outfit?

"God Hlaford is expecting us to finish what we're predicated to do. Out faith is to save Vortaxia." He gazed at me using his green eyes. I smiled shortly at him. Yeah, I almost forgot about that.

"When will I know what I'm capable of?" I scoffed and looked at the stoned ceiling. I can feel his stares as I imagine the possible gifts I might have. I remember God Diante telling us that our forte has something to do with our gift and I genuinely don't have anything I'm good at.

I mean, almost everything I do is a standard for everybody. I'm not good in swordsmanship nor dragon riding. Balance is something everyone can do. There's nothing special about it. So, what am I? What's my gift?

"I don't have to hear your thoughts to know that you're questioning your purpose again," he stated. I pouted my lips and crossed my arms. I just can't stop thinking about it. It has been almost a year since I got here and still nothing hasn't changed. I'm still the powerless Chosen who happens to be a prophecy's child for some unknown reason. "I told you already that you just have to be patient. There will come a time where it will expose itself. You don't have to pressure yourself. Having no gift doesn't make you less of a vortan."

I released a deep sigh. I don't know. I don't know anymore.

Things are back to its proper place. Classes started again. But unlike before where their discussions were limited to mental and physical training, now they're also teaching them combat training.

We have God Hlaford's blessing to do let them fight for what they think is right.

They're going to be grown-up chosens very soon anyway. Might as well grab the chance and tell them everything they have to know. We can never assure them the safety of our Kingdom. Not until we find God Gaviel's bludgeon.

We're currently on the field watching them train. It's a very peaceful day in Spheria. I really hope no one will dare to come and destroy the silence of this place.

"Ivaaaaaw!" a small creature chirped from afar. I followed the voice that's trying to catch our attention and Bubbles greeted us with a big smile on her lovely hairy face. "Ivaaaaaw!" she chirped again and grabs my dress.

"What's wrong?" I asked and smiled sweetly at her.

Damon looks at us. His stares went down on Bubbles tight grip on my dress. He clenched his jaw. He's getting jealous already, but just like what I'm always telling him to do. He always try to control his anger and calm down.

He heaved a sigh. "Tell us what's going on, hairy creature," he said in a flat voice and gently removed Bubbles' hand from me. The latter crossed her arms annoyingly. She pointed the highest peak of the castle where God Hlaford's chamber can be found. I arched my brows confusedly at her.

"Is God Hlaford calling us?" I asked curiously. She nodded her head multiple times like that's what she's been trying to say.

If I have one wish. That would be to bring back Bubbles in her true form and let her speak what she wants to say. I genuinely think that she's a cute friend of mine and really bubbly.

"Did we forget anything to say to him?" I whispered to Damon. He looked at me with both of his eyes as blank as the sky after a rain. He shook his head. "Why is he calling us then? We just got out to have some fresh air," I huffed silently. I quietly frowned when he stands up to get my hand.

"Let's ask him ourselves."

Almost every Chosens that walked past us didn't fail to greet and share their gratitude with us. I genuinely appreciate every little words they say to us. It makes me feel important and it gives me drive to end the problem in our Kingdom.

We stopped in front of the huge intimidating door. The strips of gold still amazes me till now. I looked at Damon when he raised his hand to knock on the door.

"Blessed."

Damon and I gave our polite greetings to the powerful God. We gladly accepted the seats he offered to us. I smiled at him when he gave us a proud look. He looks like a proud father right now and I can't help it, but blush. It's been a long time since I had this fulfilling feeling from someone I can call a parent.

I never had one.

"Have you given yourselves rest?" he asked while staring at the two of us. Damon decided to answer for the both of us with a slight nod. God Hlaford heaved a sigh. "It's been so long. You came here as normal vortans who were expected to just learn and study the goodness if our world. Who would have thought that the both of you will be the most respected vortans in this kingdom?"

My cheeks turned pink from all the words coming out of his mouth. He's making me embarrassed. I hate to admit that his little words touch my heart so easily. Maybe that's the reason why I can't forgive myself from suspecting him. I still do suspect him and I don't know why, but there's something inside telling me that he's acting sus.

"I wanted to preserve her innocence for she doesn't want to say anything, but I thought you could do something to spill what she knows," he said with a smile on his face and takes out an eagle from the cage.

"F—Freeda?" I thought out loud.

She shakes her body as a bird and glanced at us with razor sharp eyes. Her wings flapped three times on God Hlaford's shoulder. I can't help, but think how she's so identical to God Hlaford's true eagle pet.

"I waited for months for he to cooperate. Days have passed already and a lot of chosens were hurt and killed already, but she still hasn't say anything about why she pretended to be my eagle," he said.

I looked at Freeda who looks like she doesn't know what's going on right now. I tried to look straight in her eyes, buy her glaring eyes made me regret my decision right away. "W—What do you want us to do, God Hlaford?" I asked hesitantly. I'm starting to feel weird.

"I want you to make her spill what she knows on God Gaviel's stolen bludgeon and why she pretended to he my eagle."

*****

God Hlaford let us have his office for the mean time as we get Freeda to spill what she knows. I honestly don't think that this is going to work. Why would she betrayed her accomplices?

"Freeda? I know you're there and listening. Can you tell us what happened?" I asked for who knows how many time already. But just like how she reacted to the past questions I gave her, she didn't answer.

I looked at Damon to ask for help. He's just staring at the eagle blankly. I sighed. She doesn't even want to face in her true form. How will we gain her trust?

"I know who you really are, Freeda."

My eyes landed on Damon as soon as he said those words. He looked at her with small eyes.

"Josh told us a lot about you."
