Chapter 15

That evening, I stormed into the townhouse and grabbed Oro mid-slither.

"Enough games, Oro," I said firmly. "I've figured it out."

Trapped in my grip, Oro could only stare up at me.

"Sebastian and Sophia have history, don't they?" I demanded.

After a long silence, Oro reluctantly nodded.

Despite suspecting it, the confirmation hit me like a physical blow.

The doorbell rang, startling us both.

I moved toward the door, but Oro beat me to it, slithering up to press the smart button with his head.

The door swung open to reveal Sebastian. Oro's entire body went rigid.

"Your pet still doesn't like me," Sebastian observed with thinly veiled irritation. "Has he been this moody lately?"

I met his gaze evenly. "Oro just... doesn't like strangers."

His eyes flashed with something dark before he settled onto the sofa. "We should move back to the manor. This separation isn't healthy for our marriage."

"Hmm." I responded noncommittally.

"So this weekend then—we'll complete the formal... celebration ceremony?" His eyes shifted slightly as he spoke.

"Fine," I agreed, sensing something off but too frustrated with Oro's cryptic warnings to care. I needed answers.

"Really?" He looked genuinely surprised. "I thought you'd resist. Couples need to communicate—I don't want to continue this way."

I didn't respond. My eyes drifted to his phone on the coffee table, where a notification had just appeared.

The words "Westwood High School Reunion" flashed on the screen.

Sebastian tensed when he noticed me reading his notification.

"Just a high school reunion notice," he said quickly. "There's a gathering tonight."

"Westwood High School..." I echoed. "You've never mentioned your high school days."

"Nothing worth mentioning," he said, pocketing his phone. "I was quiet back then. Kept to myself."

"Well, you should go. I'll see you this weekend," I said, dismissing him. He looked visibly relieved.
