Chapter 30: Take good care of her

"Neighbor," I supplied, knowing that wasn't a revealing answer at all. It was nobody's business what Lynn and I decided to do as adults.

Noah seemed to size me up with his gaze before he shook my hand and then plastered on a fake smile.

"Well, neighbor, welcome to my home. Stay awhile." He turned to Lynn and wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "This beauty was just getting acquainted with her co workers."

I took everything I had not to punch this prick's lights out when he put his arm around her shoulders.

"Yeah, it looked like it when I walked in," I replied dryly. "Lynn has an early day tomorrow," I lied again, "and should probably get some shut eye. I came to take her home."

Noah pouted but finally let go of lynn

When he turned to Luis. "You're not leaving, are you?", He asked.

"I guess I don't need to know that Drake is here." Luis watched me suspiciously and I remembered his words from the villa. He was obviously very protective over Lynn and I didn't mind at all.

"Oh good!" Noah cheered, grabbing two glasses of wine from a passing waitress. I mean, who the fuck hires a waitress for a simple mixer? Rich asshole.

Noah walked away without saying another word and I couldn't be less bothered. If he tried to keep us here any longer I probably would have punched him sooner than later.

"I'll take good care of her," I told Luis, winking at him.

"You better," He said with a glare. "You good?" He asked Lynn.

She nodded and giggled. "I'll call you in the morning."

"No, you'll call me the minute you get home. I want to know that you made it safely."

Snorting, she lightly patted his face. "Babe, I'll be fine. I'm a big girl and Drake isn't a serial killer." The smile dropped on her face as she stared over at me. "Wait, you're not a serial killer, are you?"

I swallowed back my laugh. "Not at the moment."

"See, I'm going. Have fun and I'll call you tomorrow

Damn, this woman is seriously perfect. Her sense of humor alone is going to drop me to my knees.

Placing my hand on the small of Lynn's back, I lead her toward the front door but not before taking a glance at Luis who was glaring after me. Was he seriously not on my team anymore? He seemed to love me and rooted for Lynn and me just days before. What the hell gives? But then he winked at me and then turned around and disappeared into the party. What the fuck?

I helped Lynn into my car before I got in myself. She was quiet and I wondered if she were nervous all of a sudden. I know I was. Memories of leaving her in Ibiza came to mind and I hated how I chickened out and left without saying something.

Putting the car in reverse, I backed us out of the weird boss's driveway and headed back toward the highway. Lynn still hasn't said a word and neither have I. Hell, I didn't know what to say.

"Thank you for coming to get me," she stated, finally breaking the silence.

I seemed to relax the moment her voice filled the car. And that's because it's what I wanted to hear her voice again.

"It's no problem at all. I was up anyway." I shrugged like it was no big deal because it really wasn't.

Her sweet smile caught my attention attention as I looked over at her, feeling my heart pounding. This woman made nervous and excited as hell all at once. So much for getting her out of my system.

"So, I know I said I was tired and wanted to go home, but I'm actually really hungry. Is there anything open this late?"

I stopped myself from smiling, realising that she didn't want to go home just yet. Was she actually hungry or was this an excuse to stay out with me for longer? I guess it doesn't matter as long as I get to stay out with her.

"Yeah, I know a great place actually. It's my go to stop when I'm missing some good home cooked food."

I got off the freeway and headed toward my favorite little cafe. It was a hidden gem that only locals knew about. I came here a lot when I needed to feel normal. Being in the adult film industry wasn't a normal life and this place brought me back to my roots. Well, the good parts of them anyway.

I just hope I can keep my hands to myself and have a normal conversation with this woman. She drove me crazy and I never knew what I was bound to do next when it came to her.

LYNN'S POV

When Drake pulled into the parking lot of a cute little dinner, I was surprised to be staring at a restaurant inside of what looked like an old train car. It wasn't what I was expecting but Drake seemed to surprise me more than I was willing to admit. I'm glad he didn't take me to someplace fancy or a big chain restaurant. Home cooking and a mellow meal were definitely what I needed.

He was being a complete gentleman and I almost wish he wasn't. It was going to make it more difficult to end this thing with him if he kept showing me this descent side of him. I was already having a hard time with it and then he goes and acts all sweet? Shit!

The bell above the door chimed the moment Drake opened it for me, placing his hand just above my ass to guide me inside. It smelled like the best home cooking in here and my mouth began to water. I pictured a big ole plate of breakfast food with all the fixings on it and now my stomach was growling, too.
