Liana had harmed Gwyneth several times? Why didn't Gwyneth ever tell him about any of this?
He didn't offer a hand to Liana. She pushed herself up, glaring at Gwyneth like she wanted to tear her apart. "Asher wouldn't have dumped me if it weren't for you! This is all your fault!"
Gwyneth remained calm as she sneered at her. "My fault? Who ruined my marriage, huh? Did I make you get all those abortions? Liana, even if I walked away, you'd never make it as his wife with that brilliant mind of yours."
Liana realized Gwyneth was calling her dumb. She was so pissed that she almost exploded.
Asher quickly stopped her. "Enough already! What exactly did you do to Gwyneth two years ago?"
Liana felt guilty and couldn't bring herself to look at him. "She's a living, breathing person. What could I possibly have done to her? She's standing right here, fine as ever, isn't she?"
As the past flooded back, Gwyneth began to shake uncontrollably. Kieran held her close, gently patting her back to calm her down.
Once Gwyneth regained her composure, Kieran shot a cold look at Liana. "I'll look into what happened at the gathering two years ago. It's up to the police to judge if you harm Wyn."
Then, he shot Asher a chilling glare and sneered. "Mr. Crowe, you don't even know what outsiders did to Wyn, and yet, you have the nerve to ask her to get back with you?"
Kieran gave off a commanding presence, his words cutting and to the point.
Asher's expression darkened, and he fell silent.
Before Kieran left with Gwyneth, he told his assistant, Damien Foster, to deal with the matter.
No sooner had they left than Damien stepped in. "I've already reported Ms. Quayle's intentional assault to the police. Please cooperate with the investigation."
The police showed up 20 minutes later and took Liana and Asher into custody.
After giving his statement, Asher headed straight to the karaoke bar where the gathering took place two years ago. He paid a hefty sum to get the surveillance footage from that day, which captured the hallway outside the private rooms.
His eyes reddened after watching the footage, and a deep sense of regret coursed through him. The footage showed five sketchy men entering the room diagonally across from theirs.
When Gwyneth left their room, a hand reached out from the men's room and yanked her in. She stumbled out ten minutes later, her collar torn, her makeup smudged, and her eyes full of terror and rage.
She stormed back to Asher's room, as if looking to get back at someone. Half an hour later, she came out, having been chewed out by Asher.
Gwyneth hung her head, tears falling down her face, her eyes clouded with helplessness and despair.
Asher remembered the things she had said when she broke down that day, and he could nearly guess what had happened. Regret hit him like a tidal wave.
He immediately asked someone for a phone and called Gwyneth. "Why didn't you tell me Liana was behind your near assault that day?"
Gwyneth stayed quiet for a moment before sneering. "Was that really needed? I tried to explain back then, but you didn't want to hear it.
"If you truly cared, how could you not notice something was off when you saw my torn collar, smeared makeup, and bruises? Asher, all you cared about back then was Liana."
Her words left Asher speechless. He wanted to say something, but she had already hung up. When he tried calling back, he realized he'd been blocked.
In the end, Liana was held at the police station for five days. As she was about to be released on the fifth day, Kieran brought up the incident from the gathering and sent her back with a lawsuit.
Liana was found guilty and sentenced to six months in prison.
Before going to prison, she called Gwyneth. "You wrecked my life, and I won't let it slide! You're as good as dead when I get out in six months!"
Gwyneth had just landed a big deal when she answered the call.
Liana's provocation didn't faze her, and she simply replied, "Go ahead. Show me how you're going to harm me next."
