Chapter 17

443words
After the Coleman family dragged Brad back to the capital, they had his bodyguard keep an eye on him. He was not allowed to leave the mansion, let alone head to Clason City.
In the past few days, they had been taking turns to talk some sense into him, urging him to stop with his obsession. They told him Leah had already married into the Blackwell family. It was already a done deal. If he still refused to let it go, he would only offend the Blackwells. It simply was not worth it.
However, Brad heard none of it and said nothing. He also had Sean send the treasure chest to him right away.

He had bought every piece of jewelry in the treasure chest for Leah himself.
Brad felt like there was a rock on his chest. He felt a sense of dull pain, and he could not even breathe properly.
Back then, everyone knew how much he liked and cared about Leah.
However, he was lost in temptations after just a few years and forgot how he felt for her initially.
There was a card that had turned yellow in the corner of the box, and it suddenly caught Brad's attention.
He picked up the card and felt it was familiar but could not quite place it.

It was after he saw his signature at the back that it hit him.
Brad felt like he had taken a punch to his chest. He stood in place for a while without moving a muscle.
Finally, he remembered that it was a coupon he had gifted to Leah when he was a teenager. He had once said that she could trade the blank coupon for anything he could give her.
However, he had long forgotten about it after he had grown up.

It turned out that he had only loved Leah after all those years.
Brad's chest heaved. Heavy emotions stirred in his chest, and he desperately needed an outlet.
He called Leah's number, but he still could not get through.
Brad collapsed on the chair. It was as if his strength had been exhausted all of a sudden.
She was already married. A ruthless man like James would control every aspect of her life. How would he allow Leah to contact Brad?
Leah must have married James in a fit of anger.
She must be regretting her decision.
James was temperamental. How could he be good to her?
In other words, Brad still had a chance. If he were to apologize to her sincerely and submit himself to her, she would return to him since she had a soft spot for him.
