Chapter 14

One of the most important people was missing from the engagement party, so it could not go on anymore.
Zoe had cried to Brad and caused a scene, but it was futile. Brad never mentioned the engagement again.
However, Zoe had fallen head over heels for Brad. He no longer treated her like he used to, but still, she refused to leave.

Brad did not get rid of her, but he never again went to Zoe's place.
Brad and his parents were invited to James' wedding, so they arrived in Clason City a day before the big day.
The wedding was very important to the Coleman family. They hoped they could build a connection with the Blackwell family to escalate their family to a greater height.
That was, before the wedding, they continued to hound Brad to get acquainted with James. It would be best if he could become James' friend.
James was too powerful. They could not offend him, no matter what.
The morning of the following day, the Coleman family arrived at the villa where the wedding would be held.

All the guests were busy socializing. Brad felt a little bored, so he went to get some fresh air in the garden.
The villa was the Blackwell family's private property. The view was breathtaking. The greenery there complemented each other beautifully as well.
Brad strolled along a narrow winding path and came to a place covered in roses.
There was a swing among the bushes of blooming roses, and a young woman was sitting on it. Her hair cascaded down her shoulders, and she wore a white dressing gown.

Brad only saw her profile, but she looked gorgeous.
A light breeze was in the air, and the swing was swinging gently.
She looked back casually, and Brad was frozen in place.
"Leah?"

The wedding was about to start in three hours. Everyone was nervously getting things ready.
I was the only one whose mind was blank. I sat on the swing, swaying it back and forth slowly.
The smell of roses surrounded me. My feet were off the ground. The warm sunlight was shining on me. I could not even begin to describe how comfortable it felt.
Soon, I would be marrying James and becoming his wife.
It felt unreal every time I thought about it.
Maybe James had noticed how nervous and uneasy I felt. That was why he suggested I come to the garden and relax. He had thoughtfully given me my own personal space.
I finally calmed down so I could get back inside to get my makeup down and change into my wedding gown.
However, I heard an incredibly familiar voice behind me before I got up.
"Leah, what are you doing here?" the voice asked.
I turned around and saw Brad standing among the roses, wearing a black tailor-made suit.
It had been a long time since I last saw him. He seemed thinner, but he was still a handsome man who would be popular among the ladies.
I did not answer him. I got up and turned around, wanting to leave.
However, Brad quickly walked up to me and blocked my path.
"You're here to look for me, right?" Brad looked down his nose at me, but the look of astonishment in his eyes could not be disguised.
I had been living a comfortable life in Clason City, so I had put on a little weight. In James' words, I looked good and healthy at that moment.
"The Blackwell family is having a wedding today. The security here is tight. How did you get in?" Brad asked.
He put his hand on my shoulder and frowned. "You'll be thrown out of here and taken to the police station if you get in without an invitation. Come with me."
He held my wrist, wanting to drag me away.
However, I shook his hand off with all my might.
"Leah, don't fool around in a place like this. Listen to me. Come with me. I'll tell the Blackwell family that you're with me," Brad said.
He wanted to hold my hand again, so I took a step back. I found it hilarious, but I did not want to tell him that the wedding that would be held that day was ours—James' and mine.
