So, she called me.
"Yeah, what is it?"
I'd deliberately keep her unblocked, curious to see how she'd react with her family on the brink of ruin.
"Liam."
"I was drunk last night. Don't take what I said to heart! Call off your orders. We're family—no need to go this far."
"People will laugh at us."
Sophia pleaded.
"That's it?"
I laughed bitterly.
Last night, for Jacob, she pointed a gun at my head.
Last night, she forced me to sign that humiliating contract, and forced me to apologize to Jacob.
Last night, she smashed a bottle on my head and stormed off coldly.
And now she couldn't even say sorry.
How pathetic.
Clearly, Sophia had no shame left.
"I'll talk to Jacob."
Sophia glanced at him. "You know he's not bad deep down. He just wants what's best for me."
That familiar line again.
"I don't know about him, but I do know one thing: we're done."
"Don't contact me again."
I hung up with a cold laugh, then blocked and deleted her everywhere.
Cutting all ties with Sophia.
Sophia was stunned.
She never imagined I'd hang up on her. The confidence drained from her eyes, replaced by pure panic.
"Relax."
"Liam's just putting on a show. Probably read some book on playing hard to get. You have to hold your ground—don't fall for it."
Jacob patted Sophia's back reassuringly.
Smack!
Sophia slapped him, her eyes blazing. "This is all your fault with that stupid contract! You've ruined everything!"
"Liam blocked me, and you're sitting here saying it's fine? Do you think I'm an idiot?"
"He's never treated me like this before. This time, he's really cutting me off!"
Her voice rose to a scream with the final words, genuine regret flashing in her eyes.
"I... I was only trying to help! If Liam breaks up with you, it proves he wasn't sincere."
"True love means accepting everything about someone."
"Shut up!"
Sophia was livid. "You think I don't know what you're after? Stirring up trouble so you can have me, right?"
She'd known all along but never said anything, she secretly enjoyed the attention.
She wanted to made Liam jealous, easier to control.
Jacob froze, then gritted his teeth. "Yes! Am I not better than Liam? I'm your right-hand man!"
"Liam's the heir to the Manhattan Murphys. You're just a tool to me. How dare you aim for me? How dare you ruin my marriage and love?"
Sophia's eyes turned icy. She was cutting him off.
As they argued, the door burst open.
Robert rushed in, took in the messy bedroom, understood everything instantly, and erupted in fury.
