Zane's face twisted instantly. “Why? You dare ask me why?”
“I begged you on my knees just like this back then! But you still sent my son to prison! Got him executed! And you had the nerve to say, ‘He deserved it, but my son will treat you like family from now on.' As if I wanted that!”
“Now you finally know how it feels to lose a child!”

Dad screamed wildly, “Your son raped and killed over a dozen women! Didn't he deserve to die?!”
“What did Olivia and my son ever do to you?!”
Zane punched Dad hard in the stomach, snarling:
“Shut up! My son was no rapist! He would never do those things!”
Dad was tied up—he couldn't fight back. Zane kept hitting him until he was bleeding badly.
No one noticed Mom, who'd been gagged and tossed in the corner, quietly stand up.

She picked up the axe and swung it into Zane's back.
But she wasn't strong enough to kill him instantly.
He turned around and slapped her hard against the wall.
Mom's hair was wild, her eyes bloodred with rage. “You made me misunderstand her all these years! You deserve to die! You deserve it!”

Zane sneered. “Now you pretend to be loving parents? Then why didn't you get her medical help in time when she was sick? Why did you let her become slow?”
“During those five days I was cutting her apart, why didn't you ever once look for her?”
Every word was like a knife stabbing into my parents' hearts.
Mom screamed and charged at him again.
They fought wildly, crashing around the room.
But in the end, Zane overpowered her.
Gasping for air, tears in her eyes, she whispered hopelessly, “I'm sorry, Olivia… Mom can't avenge you…”
Zane was also weakened, blood pouring from the wound on his back.
But he still raised the axe, ready to kill Mom just like he killed me.
Just as the axe swung down, the door burst open. Officer Lewis rushed in with backup.
Zane died.
He tried to swing the axe one last time, but the police shot him on the spot.
But Mom, who could've survived, saw Zane die and without hesitation jumped off the balcony. Her body shattered on the ground.
Out of a family of four, only Dad was left alive.
But it didn't really feel like living.
Especially after he saw the text I sent Lewis from my phone.
“Save Mom and Dad…”
I used all my strength to type and send that message.
Luckily, Lewis wasn't like my parents. He saw it and came immediately, saving them just in time.
Floating in the air, watching Mom's tragic death and Dad kneeling and crying, I felt… almost nothing.
Zane was right about one thing—they didn't really love me.
Like when I was little and wanted watermelon, they bought apples because that's what my brother liked.
They always said I embarrassed my brother because I was slow, but they forgot it was their neglect that made me this way.
After my brother died, they treated me like the killer and forgot the real culprit was the drunk driver.
But now, none of that matters anymore.
I looked at my fading, transparent arms and smiled softly.
If there's a next life, I just hope they're not my parents.
