The photos' backgrounds ranged from the icy Nordic country.
In a month, they'd traveled half the world.
The last photo was of the two of them together.

The aurora danced across the sky.
Logan had his arm around Chloe's shoulder, his expression tender.
The caption: Watching the Northern Lights with the person I promised to travel the world with when we were young.
The killer slapped me across the face.
"That bitch! I should have killed her sooner!"
I was in too much pain.

Logan and Chloe met at a coffee shop near their neighborhood.
They went there two or three times a week.
How did I know?
I looked at Chloe sitting by the window.

Every time, she'd take a picture and send it to me, telling me they'd met again.
After I blocked her, she'd send a message like this:
"Sophia, I was afraid you'd misunderstand me and Logan, that's why I have to tell you every time! We just had coffee together, that's all."
They'd just sat down.
Chloe took out her phone to take another selfie.
Logan was in low mood today, "Sophia's pregnant."
Her movement froze.
Her smile stiffened.
After a long silence, she forced the corners of her mouth up.
"That's... great. Congratulations, Logan. You're going to be a father."
Logan hung his head, his hair covering his eyes, his voice low.
"Chloe, all I can think about is you falling down the stairs, covered in blood because of her. How can I calmly have a child with the woman who killed my child? I can't do it."
Chloe comforted him gently.
"Logan, it's okay. Don't worry about me. Sophia... she didn't mean to. She just loves you too much, was afraid I'd take you away. I don't blame her. I'm just unlucky. I can never be a mother now. But you need to be happy."
"Chloe..."
She took a deep breath.
"Of course, it still hurts a little. But if you can be happy, then I'm fine with anything."
Logan took Chloe's hand.
"Chloe, you're too kind. Don't worry, I won't let Sophia hurt you again. I will give you justice for the child."
She nestled against him, moved.
"Okay. With you here, I'm not afraid of anything."
I smiled bitterly.
Logan always trusted her unconditionally, never once wanting to verify the truth.
He never listened to my complete explanation.
That day, Chloe asked me out to the mall, saying there was something to talk about.
She had been entangled with Logan lately.
I also wanted to end this messy relationship sooner.
Chloe got straight to the point, stroking her stomach.
"Sophia, I'm pregnant."
I froze.
"Is it Logan's child?"
She suddenly laughed.
"Of course not. Originally, according to my plan, I wanted him to take responsibility, but he's too difficult. He said he couldn't cross the line, would only ever see me as his little sister, a best friend. Don't you think that's ridiculous?"
A bad feeling grew inside me.
Chloe sighed softly.
"Abortions hurt. I never do anything without a pay back."
"Why did you ask me to come here? What do you want?"
She suddenly looked behind me, a sly smile appearing. "You'll find out soon."
I turned to look.
Logan was walking towards us.
Chloe leaned close to my ear.
"This child can't stay. Sorry, Sophia, but I need you to take the fall."
She gave me a crooked smile, then suddenly fell backwards, tumbling down the stairs.
