Heartless?Let’s talk about that.
For seven years,he wallowed in heartbreak. When he is in trouble, it is always me who solves the problems for him.
I paid his gambling debts, broke up his fights, took his beatings.

And I worked hard to earn money to pay for his high medical expenses.
I was taken advantage of at a bar, enduring torment and shame!
I placed his hand on my lower back.
“Do you know? It’s empty. My kidney saved your lover.”
“Why don’t you care? You just saw me as a loyal dog!”
Ethan hugged me tightly, tears wetting my neck.

He apologized endlessly,as if“sorry”could fix it.
“You’re not wronged. You’re just mad because you lost to a dead man.”
“No,I’m jealous.I won’t let you love my brother.”
I broke free. His presence disgusted me.

“When I die,you can marry Jessica.Isn’t that great?”
He shook his head,sobbing,speechless.
I closed my eyes, exhausted.“Prepare my funeral.”
Up to now, I have given up on survival. I just want to be relieved from the pain.
But he wouldn’t give up,searching for ways to save me…
Later,Jessica,pregnant,came crying.“Sarah,save me.”
Ethan wanted to take her kidney to transplant back to me.
“I can die,but my baby can’t.Help me…”
I was too weak to speak, wanting only sleep.
In my dreams,they quarreled.
“We’ll have more kids.Just give her back the kidney!”
“Even if you do,she won’t live. Are you stupid?”
The arguing persisted,then grew chaotic.
I woke to big news:Jessica miscarried.
Ethan,unhinged,hit her.In the struggle,she fell down stairs.
After losing the baby,Jessica was furious, cursing constantly.
“It’s all Sarah’s fault.I hope she will die right now!”
“Ethan, you act noble, but you hurt her worst!”
“My baby, I lose my baby forever…”
Ethan never visited her, staying by my bed day and night.
He presented a sandalwood box, and said
“I had the prayer bead bracelet fixed.Like it?”
My pale hand clutched it,weakly saying,“Thank you…”
He gave a bitter smile.“Never say thank you to me.”
I'm dying. It was extremely difficult for me to speak. I told him not to remove Jessica’s kidney.
Jessica was right—it wouldn’t help.
Closer to death, closer to Nathan.I was ready.
“Stop sinning.Let me go peacefully…”
“Sarah, you’re leaving me no chance to make it right.”
Exhausted,I slept,heavy and pained,blood-soaked.
One morning,I woke and I'm in a very good mental state..
I knew it was the final clarity before death.
Ethan gleefully said,“Tonight,we’ll do the transplant.”
He hadn’t given up.Jessica had no choice.
He knew it was futile, just easing his guilt.
But the night before surgery,I escaped, unnoticed.
I did something bold:I dug up Nathan’s ashes at the cemetery.
“Sorry for disturbing your grave.I just miss you.”
I held his urn and boarded the train overnight.
I remembered Nathan mentioning a place:Blue Ridge Lake.
There,couples were always in pairs.
Gazing at the snowy Blue Ridge peaks,my pain eased.
When Ethan found me,my smile faded.
“I searched days and nights without sleep. It turns out you've come to this place.”
“Be good.When you’re better,we’ll come back,okay?”
I shook my head weakly, collapsing into his arms.
“If you care, sign the divorce papers.”
I pulled out crumpled divorce papers.
He frozed and cried,,then he signed obediently.
I clutched the papers and whispered,“Thank you.”
Those light words crushed him, heavy as a mountain.
I could meet Nathan clean and free.
Hugging the cold urn,I smiled,my breath stopping.
Fields of red spider lilies swayed in the wind.
I stood on this shore;he stood far on the other, smiling.
“Honey,I waited seven years, and you came.”
My calm heart surged.“Why have you been waiting for me all this time?”
He crossed the lily sea,as if crossing seven years.
I loved him,and he loved me,but we never confessed in the past.
“I was afraid I’d miss you,so I didn’t reincarnate.”
