Ethan’s face twisted, and his voice spiking.
“Abigail,are you crazy?Throwing a tantrum now?Did I say I wouldn’t marry you?”
His father chimed in,displeased.”This venue’s so extravagant, and I haven’t complained. Now, just because of a disagreement, you want to tear it down?Do you know how much this cost?Ethan works so hard, how did he end up with a woman like you who doesn’t know how to be thrifty and manage a household?”

When I heard this, I nearly laughed.
I designed this venue.I paid for everything. How did it become their family’s property?
We weren’t even married yet, but they were already eyeing my money.
Ethan sighed, his face full of disappointment, looking at me like he was granting a favor.”Abigail, considering how busy you’ve been these days, I’ll let this slide. I’ll just assume you’re just tired.”
His tone was patronizing.”I’ll still marry you,but you can’t touch Chloe, otherwise, don’t blame me for not considering our past relationship.”
I suppressed the pain in my heart and let out a scornful laugh.

“There’s still a past to honor between us?”
I turned around and walked away, and tears couldn’t help welling up in my eyes
Although I was already extremely disappointed inside, it still hurt my heart to resolutely cut off the eight-year relationship.
Behind me,Chloe’s plaintive voice rang out,Ethan softly comforting her, their tones dripping with affection, not sparing me even a glance.

“Don’t worry,Chloe. She’s just been spoiled by me. She’s just being jealous and making a scene here. I won’t let her hurt you.”
I paused in my steps.
Their audacity was staggering. Clearly, they were the ones who had caused the harm, yet they were acting like the victims.
Without me,the”unwelcome guest,”they carried on with their wedding as if no one else was around. When the construction crew I’d hired called, they were passionately kissing, visibly annoyed at the disruption.
“Ms.Sterling, your…fiancéis demanding us to pay a penalty for breaching contract and cover the remaining costs. What should we do?”
On the other end of the phone, I heard Ethan’s arrogant voice boomed.”This is my wedding venue!Who let you in?I’ll call the cops!”
His parents even demanded the crew pay for their”emotional distress.” The whole family was stomping around in a hurry over there, and it was quite a scene.
I told the crew to stay put and dialed another number.
Soon, the hotel’s security team arrived—over a dozen burly men, each over six feet tall.Ethan instantly backed down, pulling Chloe behind his parents.
The security captain barked,”Hello, this is an auditorium exclusive to VIP customers. Please leave here immediately.”
The suited men stood like a wall.Ethan’s father stepped forward, puffing out his chest, but one glare from the captain sent him shrinking back, silent.
Ethan’s mother plopped onto the floor, wailing.”They’re attacking us! The rich are bullying the honest folk! Come and see this injustice!”
Ethan’s head lifted.”See?I’m a VIP.You lowlifes can’t touch me!”
I just wanted to laugh when I heard this.
After relying on others’ power for so long, he had even forgotten that he was just a fox himself.
Ethan was my first love.
I was the campus belle in university, and there were countless people pursuing me. All kinds of cheesy tricks annoyed me to no end. But I fell for the shy, reserved Ethan Walsh.
For him, I was willing to break off relations with my family.Fearing that he’d feel inferior knowing my background. After graduation,I skipped joining the family business, instead starting at a small design firm, climbing from the bottom.
This wedding was supposed to be my most dedicated and satisfying work, with every bit and piece of it recording our eight years together.
But it ended in this absurd farce.
I suddenly realized how foolish I’d been, abandoning family and career for a man.
I called Fiona and canceled my afternoon schedules, and drove home alone.
The housekeeper,Mrs.Thompson, was thrilled to see me, she quickly told the servants in the villa to give me a welcome dinner and informed my parents and elder brother to come back as soon as possible.
They dropped their meetings and raced home when they heard I’d returned.
Perhaps because of blood ties, when I saw them, tears streamed down my face.
“Dad,Mom,Henry,I was wrong.”
My mom looked at me tenderly and reached out to wipe my tears.
“It’s okay. We’re family. How could we really be mad at you? We just hated seeing you hurt.”
“Exactly,”Dad said, smiling warmly.”Our family’s got the means to let you make mistakes. But it looks like you don’t need us to clean up.Your talent’s as good as ours.”
Henry, always gentle, seemed to have a thousand words but only gave me a hug.
“Welcome home.”
I had dinner with my family for the first time in years, only then did I know that they had been keeping an eye on my situation all these years and were waiting for me to come back.
When they heard about Ethan’s betrayal, they were furious. Henry even wanted to teach them a lesson.
“Our little princess, cherished by the whole family—how dare he!”
I shook my head, my gaze turning to ice.
“No need.I can handle this myself.”
