Chapter 46

"Yes I know it will take some convincing but even last time he believed me for a short while" she said again.

Definitely talking on the phone.

After a long pause she talked again "yes I'll keep you updated" she said then said a goodbye.

I heard heels walking away and I furrowed my eyebrows.

Ah fuck it I was too tired to think so I made sure that she was gone then got out of the office and hurried downstairs back to my new office.

Who was she talking to and who was she referring to as 'she' or 'he' and why did she sound like she didnt want anyone to hear about it.

My mind swirled and for a good moment I stood in the elevator then decided to just go home.

After collecting my purse and file in my hand I got out of the office because I felt uneasy.

Yup I was hungry.

Outside the wind blew as if I wasn't parked underground.

I could feel the teeth shattering coldness through the thin material of my garment and I thanked the heavens when I reached inside my car.

The drive to my parents house was tiresome since I was already tired and I got stuck in traffic because of some asshole who decided that it was a good idea driving while drunk and ended up in a kiosque nearby.

Yeah it didnt look good.

But after all I reached it was already eight thirty.

I wondered how I was going to cook when my son would be joing the bed in a few or if he wasn't even asleep.

When I knocked at my parents house or should I say my childhood house my dad opened with a tired look and I knew that mine matched his completely.

After greeting him with a hug I entered inside and found my mother clearing the table.

My baby was seated on a small chair nearby doing his homework.

I immediately felt guilty and almost groaned.

"How was work" my mother asked and I felt like my back was about to break in a half.

"I got the position then had to help the staff do the rearranging since I couldn't do it alone and the boss was not as excited to the idea of me adding a few touches." I said shrugging my shoulders as I dropped on the couch.

When Ansel heard my voice his excited face looked in my direction and he walked to give me a hug in which he ended up hugging my legs.

Laughing outloud I carried my baby in my arms as my mom emerged with a plate full of food.

After eating and leaving my parents house with Ansel and I found myself sitted on the bed with only the lights of my laptop emitting the file I was supposed to complete.

After tucking Ansel to bed I switched on the lights in my room and opened the file.

Before I could completely opened it I debated where I actually should do it or not.

I mean the file was left on my desk and even though it was my old desk it did mean that it was for me right.

Or not.

Maybe it was placed there by mistake and opening it might be the worse idea but the curious nature in me was not having it.

So I went with it.

Maybe opening the file wont be so bad after all.

With a humming and drumming heart I kept on my glasses and pressed the enter button my laptop so that the file could open.

My eyes couldn't really believe or comprehend whatever was being displayed on my screen.

The silence in the house was not making it any better also.

What in heaven's name was this.

Nayra

The following day I spent half of my day looking at the backed up files of the former CFO who happened to actually be a genius.

How he was stealing money using ties with other companies still went beyond my mind.

Clearing my head I sipped on the glass of water that had been sitting next to me for a few minutes.

I feared that I would accidentally spill it on the table so I drowned all of it and walked to place it back to the dispenser.

While going back to sit back on my desk the door swung open and the most unexpected person walked inside the office.

She closed the door behind her and slowly walked inside my office.

"Uumm... good afternoon?" It even sounded more like a question in my ears and I could swear that I saw her smile.

Okay creepy.

"Oh how rude of me my name is Isabelle Hellens" she said extending her hand as she moved towards my direction.

I was still standing in the same spot and I returned with a small smile.

"Nayra Hotch" I fit my hand in hers.

She had really soft hands.

"Josiah's cousin" she said again this time looking at me straight in the eyes.

Oh great.

It seems like his bloodline follows me everywhere.

She had grey curious eyes.

And as she mentioned that she was his cousin she squeezed my hand a little bit too hard may I add.

"And I am the new Chief Financial Officer.

I got promoted yesterday" I said with a small smile then drew my hand out of her grip.

What was up with this pregnant woman.

"I'm also the Chief Operating Officer" she said and her hand rested on her side.

My brows rose.

What did this woman want anyways.

"Okay may I help you with anything?

Maybe a glass of water since I dont have anything to drink in the office and in the mean time you might state the purpose of your visit maybe?" I said plastering a fake smile.

She looked at me again.

Searching for my eyes.

For what.

I had no idea.

"Wouldn't that just be great?" She stated sarcastically.
