Chapter 27 Resignation Letter

"Heya, princess!" Nancy imitates Keith's voice.
Vale rolled her eyes.
"Why did you agree with my resignation letter?"
"I don't have a choice, okay? He's so goddamn scary." Vale could imagine her shuddered thinking about it.
"My life is officially doomed." she mutter.
Vale heard her sigh on the phone, "I don't think they should be mad at you. I mean, Come on! You choose that damn job yourself. It has nothing to do with that business friend thing. Am I right?"
Vale's mood was immediately lifted at the fact.
She's right.
She chose the damn job and decided to work in that company, not because the boss is her father's business friend.
Furthermore, she's part of the Rodriguez. She could easily find a new job.
"You're right!"
"Maybe you can work at my father's company. Heard that he fired one of his employees three days ago..." Nancy suggested.
"Really? That's great. Text me the address." her face lit up.
"I'll tell him to hold the job for one month before you can go."
"But why?" Vale whined.
"Your lover boy isn't letting you go anywhere at all for the moment."
"I can sneak out." she insisted.
"No, and that's final," Nancy said before she ended the call.
Vale groaned in annoyance.
Has Keith virus infected her?
Vale turned around from the balcony's railing, and a hard gaze met her eyes.
'Damn it! Did he hear all of it?'
Vale tiptoes towards him while smiling innocently. His gaze never left her.
She was about to run past him when he wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. Vale squealed as her heart runs a marathon in her chest.
"Sneaking out, hmm?"
He nuzzled her neck, making her shiver more.
"I-I don't know what y-you're talk-talking about..." she stuttered.
"Really?"
"Yeah?" she felt his lips on her neck curve up into a smirk.
"Do you know what happens to a liar?" he asked.
"Uh...they get ..punished?" she gulped as dread filled her body.
'He wouldn't punch me again, would he?'
"Damn right!" he said.
"What-" she was about to ask him what kind of punishment he would give her when a hard smack landed on her ass.
"Oww! What was-oww!" he did it again and she was starting to feel the burn of his fingers on her skin.
"I dare you to lie to me again," he said next to her ear when he stopped.
Horror flashed on her face at his words.
'What will he do when he knows that I didn't tell him the whole story?'
'I didn't scream that loud, am I?'
Her face went red at the thought of the guys hearing her scream. What would they think of her?
She gulped, "Let go." Vale slapped the arms on her waist, but he didn't even budge. Instead, he tightens his hold on her.
"Keith, I need to call my parents." she tried to reason with him.
"No one is stopping you," he said.
Vale look up awkwardly at him. She can't talk to her parents on the phone when there's another person in the room.
It was just...awkward.
"Fine. But, no sound, please." she narrowed her eyes at him.
"No promise," he said with an evil glint in his eyes.
'Oh, God, help me!'
"I swear I will not sleep with you anymore if you do what your mind is planning," Vale smirked when he scowled.
"Have we sleep together, baby?" he asked in a mischievous tone with his smirk.
His frown was long gone.
"You-!" she tried to turn around in his arm but failed.
His laugh rang around the room, making her stop her movement and just stare in awe at him. It was so rare for him to laugh so freely.
"I loved it when your face scrunched up like that," he said with a genuine smile on his face.
She smiles back and let herself be lost in the depth of his eyes.
Her phone ding as notification of her newly installed games pops through ending their staring contest. She opened her phone and typed her password as fast as she can.
"I already know what your password is," he stated and she cursed.
She scrolls for her mom's number, "Hello?" her mom's voice greeted her.
"Hey, mum."
'God, I miss her.'
"Sweetie, when will you visit me? And where's Kayden?"
Vale stiffened.
'She didn't see the news? That's so unlike Mom.'
"I-I don't know, mum."
'Shit! What kind of answer is that?'
"You don't know when you'll visit me, or you don't know where Kayden is?"
"We..we already broke up a few days ago." she bit her lips in nervousness.
Silence met her.
"What did you do? That guy is seriously a good man."
'Good man, my ass.'
...and now, her mom is blaming her?
"He cheated-"
"What?!" her father's voice boomed through the phone.
'Dang! I know they were together.'
"It's true, dad! and he was... he's already engaged with someone else." Vale bit her lip.
"He's not that kind of guy, Valentina Rodriguez!" he shouted.
Vale gripped her phone hard.
"Damn it, dad! Are you seriously defending him, right now? They're not drunk! How can you defend a stranger but not me?! Your daughter?! They're already engaged before he approached me!"
Vale gritted her teeth as veins appeared on her neck and forehead. The only thing that was distracting her right now is Keith trailing wet kisses on her neck.
"Where are you?" her father asked.
"My friend's house."
"Are you despising your parent's home now?"
"No." she sternly replied.
"You're going home. Tomorrow."
"What?! No, dad! I need to work-"
"Don't lie to me! I know you're fired!"
How did he know about it?
"...what?" Vale was shocked, to be honest.
"Don't act shocked, woman! That boss is my friend!"
'Kill!!'
Vale saw red right on the spot.
By now, she was thrashing in Keith's grip.
"What is wrong with you, old man?!" she screamed.
"Melissa's wedding day is on Saturday. You better be home that day. Don't embarrass us further." he ended the call.
Vale growl and throw her phone on the wall. Keith turns her around before kissing her forehead, her eyes, both her cheeks and after that, her lips.
She kissed him back with the same ferocity as her anger slowly dissolves. She was sure that his kiss is magical. They pull off, breathless.
"You're too gorgeous, princess," he said.
"Are you turning into a drug?" she asked.
"Why?"
"Because I'm addicted to you," Vale confessed as she kissed him again.
She can feel him smirk as they kissed.
