Chapter 66

"Charles," Alpha Fred spoke, throwing water on the sleeping prisoner's face. Charles woke up with a grunt, looking up at Alpha Fred whose face and physique were evidently looking stronger and better.

"Alpha Fred? What am I doing here?" he groaned with confused eyes.

"I think you know why you're here."

"Actually, I don't."

"Liar!" Alpha Fred snarled with anger. "You betrayed me! Stabbed a knife through my back and took advantage pf my kindness! You'll pay for what you did to me and my daughter. You'll pay for everything you've done to my family!"

Charles chuckled deeply, his face deformed and his legs broken. "So you now know everything.. what are you gonna do then? Kill me? Banish me?"

"No, but I'll do something worse," he growled, his eyes darkening. I'll nail you on a spike and burn your body and soul until there's nothing left but ashes.. You'll suffer for eternity and I'll make sure you'll have time to rethink everything you've done."

Anastasia watched as Charles widened his eyes in horror. He was right to be afraid. Nailing and burning one's body on a spike is an eternal punishment. It was stated that the sinner's body and soul would be burned forever in an endless darkness and misery. It was the greatest punishment anyone could suffer.

"No, you can't do this! I'm supposed to be the Alpha! I'm supposed to be chosen one!"

Alpha Fred turned around, ignoring his pleas and cries, and nodded towards the guards. "Take him."

The punishment was done with too much anger and pain in the faces of the audience and the crowd. Charles was slowly burned to death and the silence that followed after was unsettling. Everyone solemnly watched the fire brightened the dark place, giving the pack a permanent remembrance of what happens to those who dare hurt and betray an Alpha and his family.

"No!" Charles screamed in pain as he slowly burned to ashes. "I'm supposed to be the Alpha! Don't do this to me! Please!"

Everyone ignored his pleas and cries for help. Alpha Fred watched the whole scene with a serious face, his eyes never leaving the burning werewolf. Anastasia felt tears rolling down her cheeks and Alpha Draco was there, pulling her to a hug and shielding her sight from seeing the horrible view.

"It's gonna be alright, baby doll. Everything's gonna be alright."

"I hope so," she murmured, hugging him back tighter. Soon it all ended and Anastasia found herself resting in the living room while Alpha Draco and Alpha Fred talked about their future plans for their packs.

"My dear, are you alright?" Anastasia turned to look at Luna Rea who was approaching her. She looked tired and restless, as if craving for some rest and peace.

"Luna Rea," she bowed instantly with respect.

"Goodness, child," she gushed. "You don't need to do that. And don't call me Luna. That's overly respectful. But perhaps.. you can call me.. Grandma."

Anastasia looked up at her with a frown. "I'm not sure if I should call you that.. you look too young to be a grandmother.."

The Luna chuckled. "You flatter me, child. But aren't you the sweetest? You remind me so much of your mother.. You have her eyes and beautiful face but your hair.. brown and soft.. she used to braid her hair just like this. It's been years since we last saw her. But you being here makes me feel like she's alive.. For a wise and smart young lady like you, I'm sure she raised you right."

Anastasia looked down, hoping everything she said was indeed true.. "I miss her so much."

"Look around you, child. Everyone here misses your mother. She was once beloved by everyone in the pack and it shows its truth even until now. So don't think you're alone in this. Let me tell you, if you ever have something you wanna talk about, grandmother will always be here if you need her."

Her eyes widened. "Really?" She asked in disbelief. She had never had a family aside her father and it felt nice to hear someone say that they had her back.

Her grandmother smiled warmly. "Of course, we're a family now. What your mother did made us realize that we have ignored her true feelings and making the same mistake to you will be unforgivable. Will you still accept us, me and your grandfather? After everything?"

Anastasia blinked her tears away. "Of course, grandma." Then she hugged her tight.

"Don't be sad now.. I know your mother is out there looking down at us happily. She'll be proud of her brave and wise beautiful daughter being a Luna and finding her true family."

"Don't flatter me too much, Grandma," Anastasia chuckled. "I'm not as brave as you think."

"Based on what I'm seeing so far, I know you are more than what you give yourself credit for. Today will always be memorable to me. But tomorrow.. we plan to hold a celebration to welcome you to your new family. But I have to ask.. would you like to stay for the night?"

Anastasia was so touched with what she was hearing. A celebration to welcome her in the pack and newfound family, how sweet was that? "I really want to but.. but I'm not sure if Alpha Draco would agree yet.."

"Oh, I understand.. but there will be lots of chocolate cake, isn't that what you like?"

Her eyes widened with shock. "How do you know I like chocolate?"

"Who doesn't like chocolate?" She chuckled, proving they were really blood-related.

Anastasia laughed along with her. "I know, right?"
