She never thought she'd ever see a man look at her like that. It was just too unrealistic.
"You look.. beautiful," he spoke in a rough voice as he touched her hair.
She never even thought of herself as someone attractive. And here she was, standing before a man who claimed to find her beautiful. She slapped his hand away with a glare.
"Do you think you can trick me with your sweet words?" she questioned. Perhaps this was his way of getting girls. He was always showering her with sweet-coated words, always telling her he wanted her to be happy.
His eyes were on fire as he glanced down into her eyes. "I'm not lying."
Anastasia gritted her teeth. "I don't care. Just stop it."
But then, he leaned closer as she backed up, bumping against the wall. "What are you doing?" she hissed, hands turning to fists.
Ignoring her, he moved forward and she watched as his eyes darkened, his pupils dilating. He cupped her chin and lifted up her gaze. Slowly, he descended. she knew what's going to happen next and she knew what she should've done.
But for some unknown reason, she didn't have the strength to push him away. He was so close that she couldn't think of anything else. She closed her eyes, awaiting his lips. But then a few seconds passed by and she realized he hadn't kissed her yet.
A deep chuckle rumbled in her ears. She quickly opened her eyes and saw him grinning down at her. Why was she not surprised? She should've known that the great Alpha Draco would trick her into feeling this way!
She pushed him away in an instant, feeling her cheeks reddening in anger. He only laughed louder which made her even more pissed. "I'm gonna get dressed. Get out!"
She didn't miss the look on his face as he turned around, leaving the room and leaving her breathless. Oh, that jerk! He might think he won but she was seriously going to make him pay for that soon.
Why did she even bother?
She quickly got dressed and decided she would just chill and pretend she didn't care about him. She walked out of the room and saw him talking to the female assistant. The woman nodded her head and walked away. He turned to her suddenly and looked her up and down, his face expressionless.
He held out his hand to her and she hesitantly took it. The female assistant came back with a lot of shopping bags. He took them and dragged her out of the store without another word. Wait, she had a feeling that he bought all that stuff that she tried on.
This man was so unpredictable.
And that was a lot of money wasted on clothes. Not to mention they're too expensive. He even really carried all of them without asking for her help. Soon enough, they were heading back to the mansion. The ride was quiet all along although she could feel that he's happy for some unknown reason.
The trees passed by her window as she listened to their breathing. Based on her observation, this place was like a province. So far she had seen so many trees and old houses.
Jenny greeted them at the front door the second they came back. "How's your shopping?" she asked, looking at her with a smile.
Anastasia smiled back. "It's alright. Alph.. Draco bought a lot of things."
Saying his name still felt different on her tongue. Jenny seemed surprised that she called him by his name but it quickly turned into a smile. "You must be tired, Luna."
"Kind of."
"Come, I'll prepare your bath."
The Alpha gave the shopping bags to the maids as Jenny led her towards the bathroom. She was really craving for a warm bath. She wanted to feel relaxed. Soon as Anastasa saw the bathtub already filled with hot water, she stripped and got in.
It was heaven. There were even flowers floating on the water. Jenny left a tray of fruits by her side and a glass of juice. Anastasia thanked her sincerely with a smile.
"I'll be here if you need me," Jenny spoke as she closed the bathroom door.
As soon as she was alone, Anastasia couldn't help but lean back against the bathtub with a heavy sigh. Was this how it felt like to be a rich woman? Everything was done and prepared for her without even asking. She was so used to serving others that it made her feel so uncomfortable with people serving her.
Still, she wanted her old life back. It felt like a long time had passed until she felt her body being carried. Then she was being placed up on the skies, sleeping on top of the soft clouds. It felt somehow like a daydream.
"Ana."
Confused, she looked back and forth. There were clouds everywhere. And on the other side stood a woman. She had brown hair falling down her back and it shone against the sunlight.
"Who's there?" Anastasia questioned, as she tried to walk towards her. The woman turned around and a familiar face gazed at her with warm eyes. Her heart almost stopped for a short moment.
"Mama?"
Anastasia threw her arms wide open as she ran to hug her. Her mother hugged her back. She felt so soft.. almost like a cloud. Almost unreal.
"Oh, how I missed you, my dear Anastasia. I wish we could've had more time together," her mother whispered in her ear, her hands running down her daughter's back. "You grew your hair."
"You've always liked them," Anastasia replied as she felt her tears falling endlessly. "I'm sorry, Mama. I-I wish you could've been proud of what I've become. But.. I'm just not good enough."
She had always thought her mother wanted her to become someone great. Someone who had a good profession. Someone who's earning good money for her father's medication. Not someone who's a waitress.
"You are more than enough, Ana." Her mother caressed her cheeks. Her eyes shone bright like stars in the night sky. "You are far greater than you think."
Anastasia wanted to believe her. Perhaps there was something greater waiting for her out there. She wanted to hug her mother tighter because there was nothing else she could say that could make her feel better than this.
But then she felt her mother's presence becoming empty. The warmth she felt slowly became cold and unwelcoming.. like a ghost. Suddenly, the woman she once knew disappeared before her as if she wasn't even there in the first place.
Thunders boomed across the distance and Anastasia could feel herself falling down and down into a deep hole. Her vision blurred as she heard a fading voice.
"Don't forget."
