"You don't have to worry mother. Janjan and the Shens are good friends of mine, they would help me without blinking." Nari said with confidence and her mother nodded.
But doesn't that mean, if Nari were to ask the Shens for help, she would have no one to fall back on? Plus she already called Shen, and he said he would call back but he hasn't.

But, Kate's happiness was cut short when she finally received a text from Shen himself. "I'm sorry Kate, but I can't help you. What we're dealing with is the royal family, I've been advised to stay away from you." Her mouth was left hanging open.

She checked the caller id and saw it was Shen. The same man she carried his cross for months even if he was so ungrateful. Even if her financial life and that of her family was at stake, she still carried the Shens along.
He couldn't even give her honour for old time sake and call, he had texted her like she was nothing. Kate frowned. She felt so betrayed and let down. Was this what her father meant by the world would betray you and that you should never rely on anyone?
He always warned her about her relationship with the Shens. He always told her to follow them with long spoon and never trust anything that leaves that man's mouth. He had betrayed them before when Anna's parents were alive and now, he's done it again.
Kate tried calling Shen, but it went directly to voice note. This fool knows what he was doing. This was not the end of the world, she's Kate Sui, she would bounce back no matter what. She will always conquer and destroy her enemies.
Kate sighed on the table, unable to react or say anything about what had just happened. Shen was her last hope, he was the last light in her heart, and he has betrayed her so much. As she sat there, she immediately remembered someone and decided to give her a try too.
She picked her phone and sent a text immediately to Roseline, her new friend. If there was something she knows, it was that Roseline was kindhearted and would help her. Plus, she's a Declan, they always have money and backings. They had been the one alos helping the Shens back when Noah locked their accounts.
Roseline didn't waste any time to respond. 'Dear Kate, we have been friends for just a few hours and you're already shamelessly asking for money. My brother in law has already told me the gravity of your situation, as much as I would love to help you dear. I can't. Good luck." Kate's frustration was loud this time and Nari finally noticed her mother's mood.
"What's wrong mother?" She asked staring at the woman who looked like she could pass out any moment now. Kate's beautiful face was filled with wrinkles and veins. Her fair face was now red from anger and frustration.
"Cut all ties with the Shens and their daughter. Don't even bother asking them for money anymore." She said. Nari wanted to ask why, but the look on her mother's face said it all.
"It turns out your grandfather was right. The Shens are not people to trust. They're backstabbers, especially that backstabbing pussy Shen. After everything I did for him and his stupid family, he cannot render a little assistant when I need it the most.
"What's going on mother?" Nari finally asked. She has refused to go online because of the mess she had created. If she did, she would have seen the mess her family were into and know how to tackled it.
Paying the royal family Anna's dowry money was not the issue. Kate would have easily borrowed it and sent it to them a long time ago. But they had demanded for extra for the embarrassment and distrust her lies has caused them. They weren't just anybody she should have played those tricks on, that is why she blame herself for it.
"The royal family are on our neck, they have decided we return Anna's dowry withing twenty four hours Nari and we only got 30mins left for that to be completed."
"Else?" Nari asked.
"Else we're doomed for life." Nari frowned.
"How much do we even owe them. For a big family, they're acting like 5million is that much." She blabbed. It wasn't even up to the money she had spent at the mall and humiliated herself and brand for. 5 million is something her mother could raise in her sleep. And why are the Shens acting like it's a big deal?
They collected such little amount to just mess and humiliate Anna. They didn't collect the money because they wanted it.
"Yes, but the royal family are sueing us a 100million for damage and they demand we pay everything today." Nari's eyes went wide.
