Inwardly, she prayed it wasn't at least them. What would they be doing here this early anyway. The only reason she had decided to visit is because she wanted to clear things up with Janjan and move on quickly. She would never forgive herself if she doesn't try to make amends with her friend.
The car stopped when it reached her and her aunt Kate stepped out of the car with Nari tailing behind her. Both women were smiling as they saw Anna.
"Anna what are you doing here?" Kate asked staring at her neice like she didn't know the reason she was here. It was obvious Anna had come to see Janjan. Kate smiled, today is going to be one hell of a day. Anna should have thought twice before visiting the Shens, they hate her now more than anyone, especially since Noah had returned everything he took from them.
But as always, she would come to her neice's rescue today. She would prove she has changed a lot like she said and was ready to make amends. Hopefully, Anna will learn to trust her again.
"I came to visit Janjan, what are you two doing here?" Anna asked.
"We are heading to the same place too. We heard something about her, we're not so sure." Nari said refusing to say anything further. She would love for the embarrassment Anna would get from the Shens.
It was only yesterday this morning she had seen everything Anna has done to her best friend Ava. She has ruined Ava to the last and forced her out of the city. Ava had sworn to take revenge, but she doesn't know how to go about it, she cannevershow her face in Summerlane ever again. Plus, her career is now in shams. She will never be able to get a modelling gig ever again.
"Well, since we're all here for the same reasons, let's go in then." Kate and Nari started walking towards the black gate that stood proudly before them. Anna raised a brow, so she has been standing before Janjan's mansion for the longest and had no idea?
She got back into her car, and drove in. When Anna arrived, she took in deep breaths, carried the gift she had bought for Janjan with smiling face and stepped out of the car.
She was happy and eager to see her best friend again. They could at least talk and make amends for the months they have both spent apart. She couldn't believe a little misunderstanding would end a friendship of years. Whatever had happened on the night of Janjan's bridal shower was due to their past reefs and would be settled today.
She would have to come clean and apologize for the misunderstanding. It's not like it was her fault, she had only acted on what Noah told her. She had a freaking amnesia for crying out loud.
When Anna walked into the mansion, she hadn't expected to see all of the Shens family present in the mansion. Why the hell will the entire family be present this morning.did they have some sort of meeting today?
Maybe today isn't the day she should visit, she couldn't say anything before Janjan's family, maybe some other time. Before Anna would turn around, "You made it, welcome sister in law." She heard a familiar voice and turned to look at him. Chalamet was all smiles and approachable, but she wasn't sure the rest of the family would be pleased that she's here today.
"Good morning Chalamet." Anna forced a smile.
"When you texted me, I hadn't expected to see you come here. Where's Noah?" He asked looking behind her. His cousin would definitely be the first to step in if he was here now.
"He isn't here, I came to visit you guys since I couldn't make it to your wedding that day." Anna said. "I must have caused a lot of trouble for you guys that day with my clumsiness. I'm sorry." Anna added.
"Oh it's nothing sister-in-law, that is gone now. Please join us for breakfast, I'm sure you haven't had anything to eat either." Anna nodded and followed him all the way to the dinning room.
When they got there, she saw everyone already seated, including Chalamet parents. Noah had introduced her to them, during Janjan's bridal shower. Kate and Nari where also seated there, both woman naturally happy this morning. It's like there was something exiting happening. Kate has come all the way from their mansion over to this place to have dinner with the Shens, even though she's never liked them since Anna met Janjan.
She always have something bad to say about Janjan in the past, but now, Nari is Janjan's best friend. Anna smiled inwardly. Did her Aunt take her as a fool, to not see the little games she was playing?
She had played the vallian for months and now that card has failed, she wants to be the hero again. The good Aunt without flaws.
The table turned dead silent as Anna walked in with Chalamet. "Guess who came to eat breakfast with us this morning?" Chalamet announced all smiling and friendly as he walked to sit next to his wife.
When Anna called, even though he didn't tell Janjan about it, he had told the other family members who were already here and they had prepared for the visit of their household enemy, Anna Sui.
"Good morning everyone." Anna greeted but no one responded. She rather heard Nari's giggles even if her face gave nothing.
Janjan frowned on seeing her here. Her parents have finally succeeded in turning her against Anna. Before, she was the only person who defended Anna whenever they spoke bad about her, she had even snitched on her family and tried to expose them to Noah, but not anymore.
"Good morning Anna." Nari responded. The Shens acted like they hadn't seen anyone even the Declan's too. That's how much they hate Noah and his wife. But since they couldn't speak before Noah, they felt like the next available person to lay their frustration on would be his very accessible wife who would'nt stop visiting.
"Please seat Anna, don't mind my in-laws, they're not in a good mood this morning." Chalamet said casually and Anna found the next seat close to Mia. That's the last person she wanted to sit next to but here she is.
"Why is she here?" Janjan turned to her husband. Unfortunately, she's the only person surprised to see Anna here and she wasn't pleased at all.
"I came to see you Janjan and apologize for not attending your wedding like we always planned. How are you doing?" Anna asked her friend, ignoring the silent glares from the rest of her family. Janjan didn't look good at all, she looked so pale and weak at the same time and Anna wondered what was wrong.
"Chalamet, since when do we let unwanted guest in the house?" Mia turned to her son in law. "Tips for the future, be careful of those you let I to your house, they'll ruin your marriage and accuse of killing their young." Mia said, her words as clear as day that they still harbour hate and resentment towards Anna.
She sighed. This is the reason she's here anyway, to apologize and clear the air. But she hadn't expected to see the entire family here today. Maybe this isn't a good idea, she should have listened to her hubby or at least told him where she was rather than come all the way here. But either way, she is here already and there's nothing she can do about it.
"Don't speak that way Mia dear. You know my neice did nothing wrong, it's all her husband." Kate spoke up for her neice immediately. It was time to play the good aunty role today to win Anna's trust.
"I understand Anna is your neice and you'll do everything to protect her Kate, but Anna has caused a lot of problems for us in the past and we as a family do not want her close to us anymore." Mia said.
"But..." Kate tried to defend her neice but her words were cut short.
"My wife is right Kate. Shouldn't you be in your billion dollar mansion having rich breakfast with your husband, why are you here?" Shen turned to Anna. He has hated the girl from the begining but he did nothing because he wanted to maintain the relationship he had with her grandfather, now that Kate was in charge, he saw no need to pretend anymore.
"I came here to settle whatever differences I may have caused..." Mia started laughing so loud, her mocking laugh cut through the air like a sharp blade.
